53 - The Salty Watermelon

Apparently this is a thing in Japan. I remain sceptical.

New feed dump, huzzah! I also have an idea of what a salty watermelon might be in terms of a sexual thing, but... well, I don't want to share it for the obvious reasons.

But I'm not sure which is the stupid story of the week. Salty Watermelon just sounds like it'd taste awful. Who knows though? It might taste amazing. I doubt it of course, but it is possible. Buying a waterbed for a cow just seems flat-out weird.

Also, poor James, always getting the worst titles.

Salted watermelon is very common in the southern United States. I have tried it and dont taste that much difference.

but like adding salt in small amounts to most foods, it doesnt make the thing taste salty, it makes it taste more like itself because of... umm things alton brown explains really well.

It is a thing in Japan. It's just like, a snack.

Actually, during the summer they smash watermelons with baseball bats, put salt on them and then eat them, so... all those terrible animes I watched in middle school were at least partially truthful.

WOOOOOOOO! Girl Talk! I was just listening to that album today....

Oh yeah the video. If I was a cow I would totally dig a water bed, it'd probably help with the aches I get in my exhausting cow life of standing around and eating.

Salty Watermelon sounds like a pub that's trying to hard to be old fashioned.

Also this seems appropriate for the steampunk bit

And is it just me or did this episode seem a bit darker (in terms of actual lighting, not content) than usual? The green screen behind Graham wasn't its usual vibrant self.

Sir Douglas Mawson on the $100 note? Sweet! Can I borrow your time machine? I've had to put up with Dame Nellie Melba for the past 16 years. :)

Really? *reads the Wiki article* Oh, the Design section of the article doesn't specifically state which is the new note and which is the old one. We're using the brightly coloured Monopoly money now. :)

This is actually a point of some confusion for me. CheckPoint season 2 opened with the addition of a LoadingReadyLeitmotif, so I figured that was meant to acknowledge the new season. But, Feed Dump: Tyrannic Saurus also had one, and FD wasn't a year old at that point. Which one was the finale?

EDIT: Also, Facebook Girlfriend was episode 52. This one is 53.

I thought the LRR logo was a bit of extra branding for the shows and not related to seasons as such?

I wish I'd been dealing with Dame Nellie Melba on $100 notes. Rare for me to get my hands on one of those.
