AskPAUL LIVE! Questions thread

Postby Paul » 08 Jun 2012, 07:10

Hey everyone,

We were not able to do a podcast last weekend and with the rest of the crew away at the Child's Play Charity Golf Tournament, we are not going to be able to do one this weekend either. Rather then skip another podcast, I had the idea that I could just do one myself. To make it less like me just sitting in a empty room talking to myself, I'm going to stream it live via the LoadingReadyRun twitch.tv account at 3:00pm Pacific time on Saturday June 9th and to give me something to talk about, I figure you guys can post questions for me here, on twitter or in the chat and I will respond to as many as I can.

Think of this like a reddit AMA: there might be a few personal areas I don't want to get into, but otherwise anything is fair game. This is a good opportunity to ask any questions you have that wouldn't work or would be too long when all of us are answering. Silly questions will be given the attention they deserve.

See you on Saturday!

Edit: Thanks to everyone who watched and asked questions! The recorded video on the whole thing is now online:

How did you figure out you could sing the Gypsy Rover so well?

EDIT:

Do you speak any French?
How did you train for Things on My Head? Did you even train at all?
Do you miss the beard sometimes? (I find you hotter without it, for the record).

I'm very much looking forward to this. I was sad I didn't get to meet you at PAX East with so many of the rest of the crew, Paul.

I'm not sure if you meant this thread for questions, or just the forum in general closer to the time of the event, but I'll post now just in case. :)

1. Since I'm bad at spontaneity, if I do get the privilege of meeting you at an event, any topics of conversation you'd prefer? :)

2. For En Garde, as an example, the back and forth between the two guards is very snappy. You talked a bit about the stage direction in the earlier podcast, but I was curious about the dialog writing process. Did you have any particular references you used? Or does it just come naturally from hanging out with so many witty people? :)

3. If Commodore Hustle is the versions of yourselves that are less capable and more crazy, what would the versions of yourselves be like that were super-competent but still comically flawed?

Thank you very much!

If you're not taking question from here, sorry for clogging the thread. At least I'll be able to copy/paste. ;)

Dear Paul
should this segment be called Poking Paul to keep with the tradition of Grilling Graham, Mauling Matt and Jabbing James?

If you the ability to attend CES and/or E3, would you?

Not sure if you guys are gonna talk about it on a TGWP, but what are your thoughts on E3 this year?

How good are you at golf?

Dammit, I'm going to be at work.

Why didn't you come out to PAX East?

What's your favorite sport or physical activity to actually take part in?

What's your least favorite movie of all time?

Do you see a revival of the Iron Stomach Challenge in the future?

If you had to have a TV built into your stomach, what channel would you want it stuck on?

Poking Paul,

NOT A QUESTION you don't have to answer all of them dont want to steal too much time but so far doesn't seem like you have any questions

A QUESTION(S)
1) If in the future you processed the technology and knowledge to unfreeze people that have frozen themselves in cryo-sleep long ago, would you unfreeze them, or leave them alone?

2)If you had one article of clothing fused to your body for the rest of your life what would it be?

3)If you could touch anything and it would turn in to an element would element would it be? like King Midas

4)If every thing in your life looked like a cartoon what cartoon would it be?

I'll probably be at the office, coding away, so I'll try to be in attendance to keep you company, Paul! :)

EDIT: Some questions maybe have some.

-What is your ultimate goal in life? Or, do you have a sort of focus which you want your life to have?

-Is there any idea or issue you feel passionately about? Or some relatively simple to bring about change you'd like to see in the world?

-What sort of music do you like? Do you like musical theater? Do you like... Stephen Sondheim?

-What's your favorite color when it comes to clothing?

-Is there any book you'll read over and over again?

Well shit, I'm gonna be at work. Guess I'll just try for some simple things:

-Any word on new episodes of Friday Nights?
-Related to the question someone asked up there about super competent but comical versions of yourselves, have you guys ever thought about doing the show that way? Like, maybe for a while departing from you and graham not being total hacks at writing and whatnot?
-Best thing to come out of E3 in your opinion? Not that there was much sadly...
-Any movies over the summer you're really looking forward to?

Wish I had more to ask, but I don't. Sorry. :x

Ah... I might miss it depending on how long it goes. Stupid high school graduation parties for people I care nothing about. Oh well.

As for questions:

Any conventions you're looking forward to going to this year?

If you could have Ch_Paul switch behavior-type with another Ch_character for a single episode or longer (become A bit dickish if it was switching with CH_Matt, get CH_Tally's secretly evil airhead character, etc), would you and who would it be? I could see one of the 'fixed' gadgets doing it by mistake.

What are you looking forward to and dreading about DB6?

Have you ever recieved any official complaints or annoyed neighbors coming over during Desert Bus?

Has anyone been injured in any serious or noticeable way during Desert Bus? (Why yes, I am rewatching DB5 right now, hence all the questions about it)

What is your favorite series? To record, to watch, to write, etc. Or, if it's too hard to decide one, what are some of your favorite things about doing each series?

Have you destroyed the moon yet?

Kapol?

How often do you read the forums (Escapist or LRR forums)?

What was your favorite viral video from Operation Viral? And do you plan continue Things On My Head?

How long do you think Loading Ready Run will go for? How long do you think the Desert Bus will ride down that lonesome, dusty trail?

Tea and cake or death?

Most overplayed joke?

Favorite type of Magic deck (control, combo, aggro, etc)? Favorite colors to play? Favorite card overall? From Avacyn Restored? Anything else you feel like mentioning about Magic?

How did you meet Graham? What made you decide to try LRR?

And sorry a lot are questions your normally asked most likely. I'm not creative and I'm tired. >_>

Hello PAUL!
Do you know what you get when you cross a Bioshock Big Daddy, with a prolapsed rectum? Because I don't, and I want to know after hearing it in "The Bee Team".

What is the weirdest costume you, or anyone from the group has worn, while going to shoot at a location?

Do you know where your towel is?

And what should I do with my unquenchable thirst for buying more magic cards, even If I can't use them?

Also have a good time.

Dear Pummeled Paul,

No less than three times you and or Graham have said you would create a "MTGO draft" forum and link to them on the main page. What gives?

Is the CH_Paul's magic style based on your own? Do you tend to be super analytical about each card and its interactions?

What formats of magic do you enjoy? I know you play duels of the planewalker, do you draft or play at the local shop?

A question about the show it's self: I think I might be able to catch the beginning of this, but I'm on the east cost and their is a good chance it will bleed into my eating time. Will you be posting this to the site afterwords?

Now the real questions:

Out of all of the games you've done unskippable with which one did you enjoy actually playing the most?

Have you seen any of the coverage of E3? If so is their anything new that you are looking forward to? Or maybe something that disappointed you?

Why have you stopped doing things on my head (or are you still doing it and youtube's new layout is just keeping me from seeing them)?

If you could have any legendary creature/planeswalker from magic be in a Loading Ready Run episode who would it be?

If you guys were able to do a comedy MTGO draft of any sets in magic what would they be? (not limited to what is actually on MTGO right now)

Hello!

I have two questions for you, Paul.

1: Thanks to the mailbag video we all now know why Paul is Paul. Is there/will there be a full music video or song release of that little snippet of a song from the Mailbag video?

2: This video is being steamed later today, but will it also be posted online later as well? I'll be at work and my not get to watch the whole thing.

Cheers!

How do you feel when people ask questions you know you've answered recently?
--
What's most tldr worthy (particularly in an AskLRR context): walls of text, blatant disregard for proper spelling and grammar, too many questions or something else?
--
How directionally sensitive are the mics? If, for example, you brushed them from one side or knocked whatever they're stood on from a given direction, can they pick that up?

Heeeeey Paul! :)

(I've realised that I have no good questions... So here are some bad ones...)

1) What are you going to do after this?
2)Is Victoria a good place to live? (I ask because I may move there later in life)
3) What games (Briefly, so that it doesn't become a TGPP) have you been playing lately?

You're awesome, keep up what you do, and I look forward to more Paul-related content! :)
