Do brushes with semi-celebrity count? Cause I ran into Reggie Watts in a cafe in Dublin earlier today. He paid for my drink. It was super cool.

Re: The thread of win
Yes, that totally counts; congrats!
(heck, *I* know who that is, so you could conceivably drop the 'semi')
I just watched a Nigerian rower finish his qualifying heat in 4th about a minute behind the 3rd place finisher...
...but crowd cheered him on harder than anyone! THAT is what the Olympics are all about.

I could have sworn that the Olympics were about America crushing everyone else.
An engine that both consumes and creates malice.
Re: The thread of win
I seem to recall a story about Americans being crushed by the Chinese because Americans believe you're either born with it or you're not, while the Chinese believe in perfection through effort.
Just me who read that?

That's a pretty generous interpretation of China's philosophy; I would have said that they believe in 'programming from birth'.

Managed to land a record that's been out of print since 2006 from discogs in what the seller claims to be mint condition. Didn't cost me more than a new record from Chemical. Woop Woop!

Nope. Sorry, but at least your misunderstanding has been corrected and you can step from the shadows of ignorance and join us in the light of knowledge.

Re: The thread of win
I've just found out that I could create my own water-transfer decals for my Space Marine chapter. I didn't know I could do that before today!
It won't be cheap buying the paper, but it'll be worth it.

Re: The thread of win
Found a tweet. A tweet I hadn't solicited and which wasn't directed at me. It was one of the actresses cast in my play, talking about my play.
I've never met her, as I didn't have a hand in the casting process, but it's quite a thought that this thing I wrote now has a life outside my head and my computer. It has been leased on the world. Well, a small part of the world, but the world nonetheless.

Ok, so my marks have, in fact, been amended. I just need to find out from admin whether or not they sent out an updated record.

I wish I could have been on that bus, if only to see the looks on the bogans' faces as they were left in the dust.

Yeah...
A bit of a stretch for here, but it doesn't quite fit for 'soothing cuteness' either...

Re: The thread of win
I have an interview with my local Bulk Barn! I applied there a couple months ago for the summer but hell, I can work through the school year too. I really need a job.
And I feel like this time I can do it without getting all scared and shy.
Here's hoping!

I feel kinda furious otherwise
You do know there's 5 books in that trilogy right?

Re: The thread of win
I'd say this is fairly win:

Gay marriage in New York boosts the economy by a quarter of a billion dollars. I can think of worse ways to fight a recession.

I am so win that I walk out of rooms doing a Freddie Mercury pose now.
