We just always worry that people will think we suck at looking for things.
It turns out it's tough to play and comment. Still though! Glad to hear it wasn't just us.

actually I imagine playing a video game in the knowledge that others will be watching makes your really self-conscious about any mistakes or oversights you make. seems like it would be an odd experience.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
There was just one in the last episode near the end of it, first one I noticed though. It was floating in the air back in one of the corners. Maybe they are so hard to find because they are floating out of sight.
Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Not a comment on the commentary (which I'm enjoying as usual), just on the game:
Is it just me suffering from 'everything is better in memory syndrome' or does this game appear even more boring than venetica? I haven't played either (and don't intend to), just curious why G&P managed to stick this one out but gave up on venetica (the Brad factor, built up immunity, more fun than it looks)?

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
when they started with Venetica, the idea was that they'd go as far as they could in one sitting before calling it quits (as in the original live GPLP). Now, they go through the entire game in multiple sessions.
I do hope they go back to Venetica though, it seemed not-entirely-terrible.

So, while alot of Esteban's stuff is questionable, but at least plausible, I'm pretty sure the term 'mow us down' wasn't used back then, considering the term comes form a machine that wouldn't be around for over half a millennium.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Do you think it's possible we're being too picky? I'm fairly confident if we're looking for accuracy a game about a demonic curse while fighting a fictitious version of the Crusades probably isn't that concerned about the language choices of the characters.
Also, they aren't that good at naming characters either, as someone mentioned in a previous episode the secondary character is Steve November.
Still, listening to them grouse about the Crosses is hilarious and I love the desire to stuff everyone in a well, I would so do that too.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
The Online Etymology Dictionary is a good resource for this sort of thing.
The verb "to mow" predates the lawnmower. They invented this clever machine in the 19th century, but like the toaster and the blender they just named it after what it does.
The siege of Zara puts us in the 13th century, during which time Middle English would have been in use. "Mow" had an Old English ancestor, "mawan", so its usage is plausible. The idiom "to mow down" is actually fairly literal, so it gets a pass, too.
Of course, all this is mostly irrelevant, because Denz and Esteban are not English, and would almost definitely be using French as a common language (recall Brad's comment about the lingua franca).
Plus, the designers clearly didn't care.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Because I focus on stupidly minor details that really don't change much, I've registered to point out something that made my day in terms of accuracy:
In the spear finishing move that stabs the enemy in the dick, it looks like it's actually going more towards the area where the thigh meets the lower abdomen. Done right, this would sever the femoral artery and vein running through there, and cause death via hemorrhage quickly.
That or I'm reading WAAAAY too much into a single animation sequence...

I like how the Russian guy goes from "Haha, no one can escape from the curse!", as if there's some psychic curse link and all the cursed ones would totally know if one guy got free, to "Ok, I heard of this way to escape from the curse." just because the hero tells him they're totally gonna escape from the curse.

Actually I appreciate the "wult" pronunciation. I'm not very good at Latin, but I pride myself on always pronouncing my 'v's as the Romans did.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
So we go from a string of "Zara, later" levels to "Zara, the next moment". Something tells me there's this one designer on the team who was really really proud of the animation they put together for that level title card, and that he made it clear they're GOING to use it on every level, and that he inevitably chewed someone out for reminding him that a long series of levels takes place in the same location, so that second line is going to look pretty silly as the game goes on.

12:40 . . . pro-tip- before you start monologuing to people, maybe check to see if they have a CROSS BOW. Also, I can't stop noticing Denz's sword clipping through his shield, like at 14:00.

As a side note, when you lock swords with somebody and it does that little circle mini-game thing, you should wait for the circle to turn red before pressing A.
I think you either do a stun move or a finishing move if you do. Some of the animations might make for some interesting commentary, and maybe make killing some of the armored guys easier.
Just a gameplay tip I remember from the demo.

It made me a little sad that you always went for the red guy first. If you had gone for the blue guy in one of the later rounds, you might've been able to get his mace!

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
My prayers have been answered with Paul and Brad pointing out that inguinal thing in the latest episode. I shouldn't have doubted you guys! I also feel somewhat smug and hipsterish for pointing this out before the release of Part 11.
Awesome stuff! Keep it coming!
PS: Regarding the bad aim, I must argue: As a man, could you truly shove a spear right into a man's scrotum and NOT flinch or intentionally miss? Pain sympathy and all that... *shudders*
