I honestly don't care either way if it's shown or not. Chalk it up to inexperience, but I'm not all that sure how knowing if someone is or is not Mafia actually helps base further decisions. Unless they specifically try to help or go against one another (which most wouldn't), finding out one person is Mafia would be very little help in discovering the others. The only real benefit I can see is knowing how many Mafia are gone and using that as an estimate for the remaining number to get rid of. That's nice, but not really all that helpful in decision making.

Of course I'm happy to hear how it does help. That's just how it seems to me off-hand. Plus, as Geoff said, I do think it's more realistic not knowing. But I think we threw most the 'in-character' stuff out a while ago. Besides the dance last night that is. Man, that party got NUTS.

Let's say there's a large drive by a few people to lynch someone, leading to everybody jumping on the bandwagon. If, after the lynching, we find out that the person was mafia, that would generally exonerate the first few people to vote for them (while mafia are more than willing to throw each other under the bus, they typically don't push for it, just join in). Conversely, if the lynchee was town, we put extra pressure those early voters for an explanation and are more likely to vote one of them out next.

Information revealed on death also typically includes the role. Knowing if the doctor, investigator, vigilante, or serial killer has been knocked off can change one's playstyle, and give clues as to what other roles may be out there (especially in more...exotic...games of Mafia).

Knowing how many town vs mafia have being killed is also important, in that as the ratio of town to mafia gets closer, the changing probabilities can be the deciding factor on whether or not to lynch a specific person (depending on certainty of guilt, activity, etc).

Plus, in the end, something is almost always better than nothing. We have no information to go on, and we're getting nowhere, and have no way to improve our odds or situation. We'll just keep getting picked off until the mafia win. Thus, any information we get can only improve our situation.

OKay... so we're at 50% probably?

We lynched House for being quiet, mafia for DarkAbyssKeeper, vigilante/serial killer got ex-Lurker?

So major FOS goes to Geoff_B. DarkAbyssKeeper voted for him right out of the date and now they're dead.

Wait, there's already a vote on Geoff_B right?

killing the person who voted against you is poor play by the mafia, so i'm not sure we can really use that. It's good news that we're two down, could be close to winning this.

He's too tweaked out about food and subject changes for my comfort. So far I trust none of you and will not be inviting any of you over for dinner parties until this is resolved by the police!

Well that's a pleasant surprise! We seem to be doing a lot better than we thought we were.

I'm not really convinced Geoff is mafia. He's not really contributing anything useful, but then there wasn't really much useful to contribute. My FOS earlier was more for being distracting. I'll have to think about it some more.

Well, this has slowed down.

My gut feeling is that Geoff isn't actually a bad guy. But that "Shocked and disappointed" line just sounds too cheesy to be sincere. So with that in mind...

Anyone else find Geoff_B's lack of defense or counter arguments to also be a tad suspicious? I hope we're not lynching a suicide bomber.
