Nice costumes. I'm really curious about how the venue came about.
This week's LT, I hope?

This sketch is really depressing in how well it mirrors reality.
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

Just wanted to throw that out there, because these products actually offend me.

Wait, wait. The credits say Tim was on boom. You had him around for a shoot and didn't put him on camera? I'm disappointed in you guys.
On a different note, not sure why but I always seem to believe Paul in this type of role really well. So good job.

I have changed my name like 3 times on this forum. Guess who I am!
Re: Snake Oil
Tim's addition to the crew for this was VERY last minute. Some people couldn't make it for reasons beyond their control, and we kinda had to shoot it right then, because of the location.

You could have just told a pedestrian that holding the boom would make them better in bed.

Re: Snake Oil
This video is so amazing. I am now convinced that this scenario actually happened, once upon a time.
"Hey guys! We can just sell people something worth nothing and tell them it's worth a lot, and they'll BUY IT!"
You guys are superb when you do satire and deconstruction.
Edit:- And Tim, I completely agree. The fact that products like Snake Oil exist is inherently offensive.

Vigafre: You've now got me imagining Graham doing a Music Man "Ya Got Trouble" style number to convince the local passerby of the benefits that being a boomsman can bring them. So thanks for that. It's really quite entertaining.
Re: Snake Oil
The setting and costumes really did for this one. Oh, and some good acting too

Re: Snake Oil
Great acting on Paul & Matt's part. And Graham is in fine form in his archetypal 'the only sensible man in the room'.
The set and the costumes were a surprising (and delightful) change from what I'm accustomed to; it added a little something to the vid!

Oh, I almost forgot.
For some reason, the focus (I think it's the focus) on some of your videos makes the whole thing look green-screened to me. I know this video isn't green-screened, but I remember when I thought the same thing for Formal Complaint.
Mostly, I'd just like to know if that's the focus throwing me for a loop.

Instant classic, this needs to be added to the list of videos used when introducing friends/family to LRR.

I now want to flip all the tables with rage. So much rage. So little time.
Of course, is that really all that worse then the 'pet rock?'

I'm offended that "wellness" is a word. I'm also offended by the whole "bracelets are vital to your health" thing as well but wellness *shudder*

I think that at least with the pet rock, everyone knew what they were getting into, and it was very clearly a joke item.

Re: Snake Oil
I'm convinced this sketch is great. In addition a gentleman just passed by and persuaded me that the final (pre-credits) sequence with Kathleen was an even better stinger than the stinger! As empath said, Graham's voice of exasperated sanity is always entertaining.
Re: Snake Oil
The very shallow depth of field in single shots? Yeah, that's all in the lens, no green-screening there. I can see what you're saying, but I like it, stylistically.Vigafre wrote:Oh, I almost forgot.

Re: Snake Oil
I agree, it's pretty cool. I just need to get used to it, and one day I might confuse your green-screening for shallow depth of field.

I think they say words like "wellness" and "biofield" because if they made specific claims about what it does they'd have their asses nailed to the wall by the FDA.
You can sell a vague sense of betterment because it can't be disproved.
