wait what?... his adoptive father? I mean in series 7 Lister became his own father.

You need to watch the latest episode to understand.

Also, it was amazing! I am really enjoying this new season. I'm amazed they've been able to recapture the old magic, so much better than they did in seasons 7 through 9.

It was good - the guitar part, the whole Lister and his dad thing (I mean he must be a genius when drunk to pull that kind of stuff off!) and a chekov's gun set up by a throwaway gag near the start :D

And Rimmer pretending not to be interested in the new AI when he orders Kryten to make her into a blonde model was funny :D

The problem with 8 was that they reflected back and thought "Everyone loves the Lister and Rimmer bed room banter! Lets bring it back!"
>.< Misses the point.

I don't understand. How did Rimmer go from a Resurrection into a Hard Light Hologram? Did "Ace" Rimmer get bored?

It happened in series 9, I assume.

Apparently all will be revealed in episode 6.

Failing that the alternate ending to series 8 revealed that after saving the ship Rimmer got beaned in the back of the head by a can from the vending machine

I put the link on the previous page if you want to see it.

Yep, Red Dwarf is back to normal.

So for someone that was completely cynical about them coming back after many years and jumping right back into the magic, (I mean they ended it for a reason) I am absolutely loving it like it never left!

I love Series X so far. I've been thinking about what makes these series probably the best since Series 5 (I think 4 and 5 were the peak) and I think it's the cast or rather the lack thereof. It's pretty much just the 4 guys and I think it does a world of good to just have them all hanging out with each other. The chemistry between them is 100% back and practically glows onscreen. I wonder if not having a woman on set everyday is also just helping the guys just be guys. I can't wait to see the rest of the season!

Kochanski was just far far too normal and sane to fit in well with the tone of the show I know they were trying to make her the straight woman to the guys wackyness but she way more often just came off as being a total captin buzzkill and ended up just sucking some of the fun out of things. Mind you I not saying i hated thoose seasons I just think thier less amazing than the ones with just the guys blundering thier way though an insane and fun univesre.

I liked her character myself.
It was unfortunate she didn't fit into the tone of the show.

It's sweet that Dave still loves her.

Plus she's still "out there" somewhere, so if they do figure out how to fit her in again, I reckon they'd give it a go.

Personally though, I'd like Holly (Norman Lovett or Hattie Hayridge version) back, but if this latest episode was anything to go by, he seems to be permenantly offline, never to recover from the damage done to his systems by Listers overflowing bathtub prior to Back To Earth :(

Plus Lovett said he wouldn't do any more Red Dwarf after being mistreated when they asked him to keep his diary free for Back To Earth, then didn't tell him that Holly wouldn't have any appearance.

I know pretty much nothing about this show other than the fact that my father watches it all day every day and the opening theme drives absolutely crazy, but there was something really trippy about being in the livingroom where Dad was watching the latest episode, then walking upstairs and finding Mom watching Corrie Street. And listening to that same actor speaking in two different shows at the same time.

If only you had a third TV for Robot Wars.

Yeah, I approve of the new Dwarf.

It feels a lot like the 1st series, albeit with less of the cynical edge that it had.

I enjoyed the latest episode a lot. It contained quite a bit of social/religious commentary, which Red Dwarf hasn't done since the REALLY early days.

It feels so nice to watch it and to look forward to it every week. They aren't trying to prove anything, they're just putting on an old shoe and going to town. Fan-smegging-tastic.

Another hit this week. I have no idea where all the old school humor came from, but I look forward to it every week.

It looks like this season's running gag is the callback. They can never top the moose callback (which practically had me rolling on the floor), but they're doing a great job with all of them so far. They're not above the Space Corps Directive recurring gags, but I would put the callbacks above the overly-long similes & metaphors from Series 6.

I think classic Red Dwarf used the call back style quite a bit, especially around series II-VI - it's probably why X feels so familiar despite everything being new.

Yeah, Moose is the highlight of the series so far. Loved it. But this one was brilliant!

New episode last night! How did people like it? I thought it was yet another winner and complete with furry aliens that didn't speak English (only they did speak English). I didn't really understand why they all died, however so if anyone had any insight it would be greatly appreciated.
