Paul: "I don't wanna do this either!"
Graham: "Well, you're wearing the shirt."
Paul: "You MADE me wear the shirt!"
Graham: "DO IT!"
Paul: *sighs* "Fine..."
So much laughter...
What is it about Paul getting upset about illogic makes it so funny? I laughed just as hard with:
Paul Clone 1 (after stealing hat): Looks better on me anyway.
Paul Clone 2: It looks THE SAME on you.
It must be the inflection.

I used to be a Sonic fan but I have all but given up hope that there will ever be a game as good as the old ones. Sonic Generations was fun at least as was Sonic 4 Ep. 2 but most of the recent ones can go die somewhere.

After buying Sonic 1-3, &Knuckles, and CD on my Xbox, I honestly don't think they're THAT great (they're fun, but not amazing). Maybe it's my latent Nintendo fanboyism.

Or that they are not as good by today's standard.
Totally accurate, except for all the times I'm not.

As a fellow filthy degenerate Nintendo fanboy, I partly have to agree. I mean, I picked up the series on Virtual Console, and... well, they were fun, yes. Solid 2D platforminess. The sort they don't make any more. Definitely worth playing. But maybe it was because I grew up on the other side of the 16-bit console bloodwars of the early 90s, but I didn't really see what drove the series to develop to the point where they have a kajillion characters, each and every single one of which has at least some amount of borderline creepy fanart...
Of course, stepping back, one could trivially say the same thing about the Mario series, but to me, it always seemed like nobody ever took Mario all that seriously to begin with, per se.

Re: S2E25 - A blue streak of sadness
As someone who grew up in a bit of both worlds, (I had both a NES and a Genesis when I was young, after both of them were passed their prime) I preferred the gameplay of Sonic (over original SMB) but the characters of Mario. The biggest draw to Sonic was that it seemed just a little easier, so while I never beat either game, I also felt like I was better at Sonic. Another big factor was that a second player could control Tails, so my brother and I always preferred to do that.
Of course, I've actually made an effort to keep up with the (main) Mario games, whereas I still haven't put more than a couple of minutes into the other Sonic games, even the first and third.
Edit: Mind you, the fact that my NES was pretty unreliable probably didn't help Mario's case.

Sonic was just TOO friggin' FAST for me... And yeah, I know that's the point of the game.
I guess I'm just the wrong guy to market a Sonic game to, since I prefer exploration and completion to speed-runs.

^- what he said about the '100% explore vs. under par time'
Great vid, wonderful to see Paul get his dander up (about things that deserve it).
And yeah, the closer about 'why feel bad' could go for EVERYTHING in the 'game industry news' cliches - e.g. Ubi out of touch? NEVER - it's kinda impolite to refuse such obvious material.

Re: S2E25 - A blue streak of sadness
What's weird is when I was young, the appeal of Sonic was more in the exploration than the speed. It was never about beating the level quicker, and it had a lot more alternate routes than SMB (again, the later games that were released closer to Sonic 2 were much better at this).
Obviously that's just my experience though, it wasn't necessarily what the majority of the games players would have thought.
