I think now it's pretty much up to the couple to decide what to do, if anything. Many people choose to continue the tradition, but it's not required.

Personally, if you're game, I just wanna know where you guys are registered and if you're having any DIY aspects to the wedding. I'm currently working at both a craft store and a big department store, so I could totally abuse my employee discounts for you.

I would guess that Grathleen would prefer Runners make a donation to Child's Play in lieu of gifts. Or, you know. Could always do with a new Macbook Pro.

Many women today don't continue the tradition, especially if they've already begun to attach their name to their work. If you change your name, it makes finding previous work harder, and essentially eradicates your personal "brand." Your name is a big part of who you are. I think it's ridiculous tradition pressures people into changing a part of who they are. But I am getting off topic.

...in my day, it was "The Chicken Polka"; glad to see that's faded away, FINALLY! :)

But yeah, carmeldansen just...feels like it'll be the signature of whatever form the reception takes.

*nods* My wife chose to take my name as her own, and it was a bit of a quandary as she had one or two publications about to be in print around the time of the wedding. It all worked out and now on her CV there's a "née *maiden name* publications".

But if we're doing Formal Attire Woodstock and it goes from day to night I would need two, possibly three outfits. And no one sells good Morning Dress anymore...

First off, congratulations!

Second off, this is a personal question so feel free to tell me to sod off, but did Kathleen wear the engagement ring (if there was one) during Desert Bus? Because if so, I'm surprised no-one noticed with High Denglervision.

Actually, whilst I can't confirm the specific ring in question, a few people did notice a ring on Kathleen's ring finger over the course of Desert Bus 6.

I have to admit, that after I heard about this, I went a bit stalker-ish and looked on the Desert Bus flickr to see if you could see anything, and indeed it looked like she was wearing a ring on her left ring-finger (as well as a larger one on her right middle-finger, but I'm pretty sure that's unrelated). Now, I can't quite make it out as to whether or not it's an engagement ring. This picture seems to have the best view of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/desertbusf ... otostream/

When it comes to surnames I think they should do away with tradition and both change their surnames to Saunders. While they're at it they can both change their first names to Paul. I cannot see anyway that this would impact the world negatively.

In addition, they would have a very good reason regarding why they're Paul.

Well, this might explain why, during DB, they seemed a little...closer knit, I guess? I didn't think much about it at the time, since I just thought "they're a couple, and they're acting like it."

In any case, as many people have already said, congratulations. :D

I particularly enjoy how it looks like Graham is giving a casual glance to both of their butts in that photo. "Oh, two butts. Everything's fine."

Rising from my lurker cave again to say congratulations. It honestly never crossed my mind whether they were already married or not. And now I need to figure out why I didn't know until seeing this thread and how to fix that. Detective mode engage.
