I'm sure there are zombies in the bible. That's where most ideals of demons and hellspawn originate anyway. Hence the name 'Hellspawn'.

Btw, anyone been following up on that left 4 dead game?

Homo mortuus is Latin for dead man. It is used in the Bible for just that.

Yeah, we were just trying to come up with a scientific name for Zombie, and Homo Mortuus fit the bill.

Huzzah for Latin!
-Holy kleenex, Batman, it was right under our noses the whole time!
-Satan wears a bucket hat!
-If tin whistles are made of tin, what are fog horns made of?
-Lewis has AIDS
-Meddle ye not with dragons, for ye are crunchy and good with ketchup

Aand thank you Paul for giving me the scare of the day. Bravo.

Also: Taxidermy for the winningtons, that looked scary as sh*t, too.

I see you all returning to your form. Especially Graham, and whoever fell over in the Homo Mortuus range...

A lot of people saying that we're back in good form this week...

We were doing poorly and no one told us?

Bwa? There was quite a bit of discussion about production values last time.

Sadly, it has a real effect on affect. The best writing and acting can't compete with audio trouble.

Alright, so now I can use the word Homo Mortuus without sounding like a dumbass, and I can back it up with "It's Latin" as opposed to "..This Graham guy made it up..."

Score!

Actually, I didn't mind the audio so much.

LRR lives from absurd situation comedy, good acting is merely the icing on the cake. Most of the time you just need to deliver your stuff with a straight face (which I know isn't easy either).

The most recent scripts were either based on fairly obvious situations, leaving little room for surprises, lacked the polish we have become used to as long-time LRR followers and/or were not executed as well as they could be.

Knowing what you are capable of, I considered it a short dip in performance, but nothing to worry abuot. The videos in March were awesome!

LRR for the winningtons!

Since there are LRR videos better than the average then there must be some which are below average. The Deal was not what it could been but Installation Anxiety was pretty funny.

Nonsense! All LRR videos are above average.

That's just how very awesome they are.

I actually quite liked The Deal more than Installation Anxiety. That doesn't make your point any less valid, however ;)

The videos lately have had very funny concepts, and ingeniously executed, the only thing that has hampered them is when they run on too long. Like 2 minutes would have been fine for the fun little idea of Down with the Sickness, (see the epics acceptable.tv does with 2 1/2 minutes) so 4 was stretching it. But this one had like 8 ideas in 3 minutes! Hence the greatness. Ok that math doesn't make sense all the time, but don't underestimate how fast your viewers, our attention spans stunted by youtube, are to pick up on a concept and to want to move onto the next one. I definitely won't feel cheated if you go under 3 minutes, if they have all the same goodness (which is possible! if you cut mercilessly)

Favourite gag: taxidermy. Yes, he was a fierce one! Let me tell you the story...

O___o I would flip out if LRR was on acceptable.tv. They beat out any video I've seen on that show.

I actually think that this video was the weakest of the last few weeks, though I still liked it.

Acceptable.tv is only open to the US, but (despite appearance of Eyewitness Accounts' running time) we are making an effort now to keep more funny in less time. Or more accurately, in the least time necessary.

I want to be clear that I don't think you are ripping them off, but the premise is similar to The 4 D's of Body Dumping by The Late Train.

As for doing things in the least time necessary, I've been running videos in a local Gong Show. Keeping a fast pace is often the only way to make it through the video without getting gonged off the stage, so that's had a huge impact on my editing.

You've done the live shows, so you should have some sense of an audience, but how often do you play your videos in front of a live audience?

I don't think it's all that similar beyond the concept. Some of the jokes are, I guess. We were thinking of donating it to Goodwill too actually!

However, for only four jokes, their video moves SO SLOWLY. I was seriously bored before "disposal" was even getting started.

Like "Delivery" needed to be no more than:

Code: Select all

TITLE: DELIVERY
SHOT OF DOOR OPENING TO SHOW DELIVERY GUY WITH BODY IN BACKGROUND
END

Brevity

Postby Daniel » 04 May 2007, 13:54

Yes!! Exactly! And with that mindset you vault past 99% of the roughly 200,000 assholes out there right this minute shooting each other and posting it on the web. (and also Judd Apatow, who apparently didn't realize that adding 18 minutes of improvised flab to the 40 year old virgin made it *less* funny, not more) Nothing can stop you now. I've just got my fingers crossed you're thinking big this summer - while at the same time thinking small.

There are 14 in the video. If that isn't enough ideas your friend has bigger problems than just a body to dispose of.
