If you'll be so kind as to indulge me, I'd like to show off this year's geeky gingerbread men. Last year was Magic: the Gingering. Before that was Scott Pilgrim Vs. the Frosting. This year? Avengerbread.
So, I learned that sliver pearl dust is better than trying to mix white and black for grey spots, but I still have no good solution for that color. Also, the Hulk makes a damn nice cookie man, best looking one I've done in ages.
Also, just for fun...
Shame the frosting went runny on me, messed up that signature smile. Ah well- still creepy.

These are freaking amazing! How did you manage to get the shapes for them? And if you don't have the cutters, then how did you manage to shape them? O_o
Wow!

Of course I'm out of my mind. It's dark and scary in there!
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

It's pretty simple, actually- I sketch gingerbread versions of whoever I'm doing on paper, use crayons for a color guide (the thick lines give a better representation of the frosting thickness), then cut those out to use as a stencil. Then I take a butterknife to the dough.
Here's a quick snapshot of the stencils- the Scott Pilgrim ones got ruined when I made the cookies (extra-moist dough that year.) The magic ones are around somewhere- since the outline on those was just squares, I didn't need to trace anything.
Edit: Just adding some new links, since I'm not sure the thumbnails are working. At least, they aren't on my end... *grumble*

I don't have accounts for either at the moment... I use twitter under HoshiChiri, so if you're so inclined, feel free to post them to your own accounts and credit the twitter account.
