I found the part about the origin of Times New Roman very interesting, bravo Brad. I also enjoyed the marathon of new names for Noviembre! Del Taco! Always funny guys good job.

Brad magically turned a boring game into an interesting history lesson as well as a mexican food lesson. He must be a mage of some sorts. So this GPLP is now to be called Wizards' Chat.

But yea, this game does look so bad. I will say that Taco Grande is actually fairly humorous though. Always for the worst reasons.

And going back to the 300 reference... it was so bad. It was incredibly forced. And the "This... is... THE CURSE!" bit just... just bad. Bad bad bad.

I've just watched first 5 episodes I was surprised by your surprise when they attacked Zara. It did actually happen before 4th Crusade attacked Constantinople. It was really controversial at the time and many crusaders refused to attack and left the crusade.

So many things could be said about this game... none of them good. It's only saving grace is the history we get from Brad. A list must be made in the wiki of all the names that have been given to November, along with a warning to any unsuspecting gamers that might pick up this game.

I'm just a big history geek, so I had to comment on that. Crusades especially are one of my favorite time periods.

One reason why I got this game in the first place and actually I like it a little bit. In my opinion the combat system is good and decapitating people with a 2h sword never gets old.

From the look of things, the combat system is pretty deep. I don't love the durability thing, but if there weren't so many physics bugs it would be easier to cope with.

You'll see in the more recent episodes that weapons will fall through the level geometry. The devs either couldn't afford decent QA, or were too lazy to implement the needed fixes. The styrofoam masonry in Constantinople is a more innocuous/hilarious example.
I don't know if those issues came up in your playthrough though. I know they haven't put any points into the weapon mastery stat that makes stuff break more slowly.

also a history geek (read: undergrad), i'm actually taking a paper on Crusades at the moment. Great stuff. I'm only on the first crusade at present, but I'm psyched for the 4th!

I'm loving getting all the history from brad, it really adds a lot of depths and added interest to what would otherwise be an amusing, but probably somewhat repetitive Lets Play.

Well, to be fair to the HRE, the joke that it was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire was mainly an insight from later times. During the times of crusades, the Emperor could still command pretty powerful armies of his constituent states and was crowned (or at least signed off by) the Pope. And initially, before the empowering of the Holy See as a political entity, it did control Rome and acted as it's protector... for a time.

Now, for this damn game, since we've already gone full cheeseball with that 300 shit, I really want out protagonist to throw someone in one of those soul wells and go

I disagree. I'm thinking Death tells Denz his soul WOULD'VE been cleansed, if not for that stupid 300 joke back in the garden. He's totally going to hell for that one.
