I've wanted to try goat cheese, we have chevre here too. Rolls of it it, or small portions of like seasoned/flavored ones (purple haze, sgt pepper, psychedillic, etc) but 1) it's 6.50 for a 4oz disk and 2) I'm hesitant to eat it.
Is it really worth it?

Totes is. You only need a little bit - stuff a chicken breast, on pizza, or just crackers.

I don't think you do, it's pretty underground.

What, Gjetost? That's great stuff; the 'crap stuff that Norway exports to the rest of the world' is quite nice as it is, so my mind reels at how amazing the good stuff you hold on to would be. :)

(Dude, I work in a delicatessen; we have two hundred varieties of cheese. *smug, know-it-all smiley here* )

I have tried three of them, and the best one is branded Bestemorost. It literally tastes like caramel.
Mix it with Nutella and you basically have candy on a piece of bread. Just more socially acceptable.

I miss a particular goats cheese found some 3 years back in some Czech supermarkets. It was a pretty mature cheese, conserved in oil in a tightly sealed glass jar, together with some peppers and herbs. Opening the jar would cause the oil to start frothing and bubbling. For that reason we dubbed it Devils Cheese. Unfortunately the years after that, we were never able to find it again.

Also, Czech Romadur... *Drools a little*

I'll settle for Ski Queen when the wife and I are getting groceries tomorrow; I have a bottle of nutella sitting next to my keyboard.

Went with Havarti Jalepeno and welsh cheddar. Now off to make a quesadilla.
Also, the other was a danish Fontina cheese. Couldn't recall what it was

Oh no this thread is NOT falling to page two before it hits five pages.
More cheese!
What is the next delicious hunk of cheese I should buy? Something hard and rindy with a slightly sour after taste. Thoughts?

I like mild cheese.

That is all.

Oh, you want to know what the strange man is shouting about? He says: "This contempt for plain, mild cheese! This contempt for weakness!"
