I laughed so hard at Beej shaking his head at the end. Nice one :D

Also, I did my best to incorporate all the hashtags into one tweet.

This reminds that I started a thread for ideas of what could be added to the forums. We had tons of ideas from many people yet only like four votes. Yes I am promoting the "What the Forums Need" Thread. Go to it, vote, I will pm Paul, things may change.

I like this video so much, I watched it five times, just to catch all the subtle nuances.

Kathleen, Kate, and Cam delivered outstanding performances here, and top-notch writing. "That is an extremely compelling potato." And Kate's enunciation of "hashtag bitch be stealin yo manz when." I died.

I loved this video so much. Perhaps the most brilliantly satirical LRR vid ever.

Really liked this one. Everyone did a great job but Beej shacking his head and Alex wearing my Walmart hat really killed me.

Impressive work. It's exactly like CBC news, only with better/more attractive hosts. :)

That "Let's see whatever random people are saying on Twitter and Facebook" aspect of reporting really needs to be ridiculed into oblivion...

Could you tone down that rhetoric? A simple "most likely" would do quite well.

Though entertaining, I felt something was going over my head.
Was there something in Canadian politics recently that sparked this video?

A satire of the propaganda generators/politically motivated news reporters who are more interested in espousing their beliefs than anything resembling journalism, I believe. If a public figure says A, you have to make sure everyone knows they meant X or Y depending on what you think is important. No matter how clearly they say A and explicitly nothing but A.

I am very amused by the concept of this video, and its execution.

Nothing in particular, I think (at least, not on a national level.)

I mean, the Yes/No debate is more of a Quebec thing, but the video clearly didn't refer to that particular can of worm and it's really not topical at the moment.

I think the video was more about the ever-declining quality of reporting in traditional medias (always giving the two sides equal time, treating irrelevant issues as important to fill air-time, etc.)

Amake nailed how I feel about it - the tv is often on the 'news' channel when I eat, and despite not consciously paying attention (one, I'm eating and two, I usually have a book to read for the rest of the break) this is the vibe I get any time the CBC or CTV finishes providing the set up for a news story and then asks the panel what they think about said story.

I am a he ;)

In response to the video analysis, I must say that the VERY SECOND that Cam showed up and started talking about how he would prefer a clearer response, in the most politician-like way possible, he reminded me entirely of Ed Miliband (leader of the opposition) over here in the UK and his insistence on attacking everything the PM is doing, regardless of whether he actually agrees (or called for it in the first place).

I loved the way that the whole video was a very simple demonstration of the pettiness of politics, and the retraction was a fantastic jab at the constant homogenisation and empty compromise of politicians. It contained more commentary within those 3 minutes and 42 seconds than I could ever say straightforwardly in 10 minutes. This post alone is taking me about 10 minutes to write.

TL;DR: Biting cultural satire of the highest quality, regardless of whether all of it was intended.

Aaaand there goes my succinct opinion.

Admittedly I have been out of Canada for a few years but this video felt like a weird mix of America and Canada. The title of Prime Minister and the names and locations of the think tanks were clearly Canadian (although the Broadbent Institute is based in Ottawa not Toronto) while the partisan back and forth and messages coming from a spokes person felt more American to me.
