You can turn around and sell it on Ebay for around 300.

If you sell it for 300 dollars, you can buy like 3 Goyfs.

Follow the overLRRds and make it into a Cube! It's what I'm doing with the box I got because my LGS had the decency to sell their boxes at MSRP.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Well it's certainly a good deal if you were considering buying a box anyway.
Would the singles from it be worth more than the box? MM is a bit swingy, so I think probably, but not deffinately. If you hit a 'goyf, then you win, otherwise it's a bit closer.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
At TCGplayer prices, the average value of an MMA booster is $9.68 (σ=$15.09, mostly because of Bob and Goyf). So the average value of the singles in a box is about $232, so $220 is a pretty good deal. That said, that average is biased pretty high (again, Bob and Goyf) so the actual odds you'll do better than $220 are probably less than 50/50, just if you do, it can be by a lot. Also, those are "buy" prices... the average "sell" prices are probably less. What it actually means is that if you cracked a box, noted the contents, and then tried to buy an exact copy as 250ish singles, then that's what it would cost you on average.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
thanks guys. asked to shop to hold it for me until pay day next week. i will buy it but still dont know if i crack it or sell it. dont have friends to draft it with.
anyway you guys following the SDCC panel. Theros is enchantment based, and also themed around gods, monsters and heroes and each have their own mechanic. 5 mechanics in total. multicolor is not a strong part of it. 3 planeswalkers, elspeth is one and 2 new ones.
the pre-release will have packs similar to what we had in ravnica block
also geek and sundry are producing a new show about magic. sounds like table top but with magic. that will be awesome

Holy cow, Theros officially looks awesome.
"Heroes" look awesome. And it looks like the "Challenge" decks (in this case, the Hydra) will be official Wizards versions of Horde Magic. Color me excited!

Bigger news: Jace, The Mind Sculptor is going to be printed in the FtV:20. If you can preorder for a decent price, DO SO NOW.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I don't even bother with the Vault packs, I'd be too terrified to ever play with the cards, so there's no point in me buying them. I'm way more excited about that new UBR Vampire commander they teased, but then again I'm a sucker for anything Innistrad apparently.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I had a terrified moment when I saw the Sun Titan spoiler from Heroes vs Monsters when I thought they had reprinted the Titans in Theros, but I'm hopeful that it's just Sunny reprinted for the duel deck. Have to admit though, the flavor certainly works. I really don't want to see them back in standard though, that's all anyone was playing when I started.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
From the vault is a specific set of cards right? its not packs with the possibility of certain cards.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Correct, it's a special (and expensive) pack with specific cards all printed with a Mythic Rare symbol and new artwork.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Right. So if you buy a FtV:20, you WILL get a Jace, and whatever else is in it. I know gilded lotus, a card that cost 2 black and makes a player discard 2 cards at random, and a 1U instant that lets you look at the top four cards of your library, pick one, and put the rest on the bottom and the one in your hand. The last one has the art a lot of people thought was Mom.
EDIT: The MSRP isn't actually that bad. The set of 20 cards is supposed to be $40, and they're normally supposed to be $35. A lot of places mark them up though, sometimes quite a bit. It's hard to find older ones under $100, and this one is going to be even worse. I'm hoping the store that normally sells them at MSRP will have them so I can buy at least one.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
If you can find these for less than $100 you would be able to resell them at a profit for sure.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Well that is pipe dream for Aussies as it would be a loss of profit for them. I expect it to be ~200 here just because of Jace's addition.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Most have been betting that Kiora from DotP 2012 is going to be one of the new planeswalker for Theros

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I wonder if Kiora will ever turn up- everybody thought she was a shoe-in for RTR...
Theros sounds really cool though and the art already looks fantastic.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
In FTV:20 there are 20 cards instead of the 15 cards there was in the other FTV and we know 8 cards that was spoiled yesterday at Comic-Con and Pax Aus

Gilded Lotus is honestly the one that mosts interests me for use, but I don't play older formats.
Also, I really wanna get one of those SDCC planeswalker sets... anyone there wanna pick one up for me?

looks like anyone that picked one up for you wants 200-400 bucks for the trouble.

Yea, I was looking at prices. Though I have to wonder if, in the long run, those are pretty low.
