Everything in my life has been a total shit-show these past few days. I have pregnant rats and I have no idea when they're going to have their babies so I can't plan any days away in the near future. I don't know the dose I'll be injecting the pups with and I don't have or know the location of the protocol to do so. The only person in the lab who has ever injected infantile rats is now gone.

On top of that I'm being pushed by my parents, my peers, and my lack of direction into grad school. But then I don't know what grad school I'd want to go to or for what. My work right now is in behavioural pharmacology but the gov't has cut funding to that field pretty significantly and pickings are slim. I don't want to spend the next 6-8 years of my life obtaining a PhD and then another 2 years of training to become a psychologist. Clinical psychology is a highly competitive field and is slowly being made obsolete because hospitals would rather hire and train social workers than pay the high rates of clinical psychologists. Almost everyone I know is applying to med school and I definitely know I don't want to do that.

What I really want is to take a year or two off to figure out what the hell I'm doing but my parents don't want to fund me unless I'm in school and I'm broke. I just have so little real-world experience. I have only had one "job" that wasn't working directly or indirectly for my dad and that's my IAship now. I know that sounds insane but no one will hire me. I want to work on real-life skills like interviewing and working with other people but I feel pressured to make a decision I don't feel I'm at all prepared to make.

On top of that my IAship is going terribly. The department sets assignments which I have to explain to the students and mark but they give no clear indication as to what is expected. I got into an "argument" (I didn't see it that way but she said I was getting agitated) with my fellow TA because people were asking what they should do and, as I'm the one marking them (I found this out during that lab!) I should be the one to set standards. I didn't know what the standards were supposed to be and so we ended up coming up with a format on the spot but the rift between us made the students unruly and eager to manipulate us.

Fuck. I'm so fucking lost. I have to go write that standardized test again and I have had no time to prepare. I get up every day feeling exhausted and spend my time trying not to cry while going to class. I can't keep it together for much longer.

I woke up this morning, stretched...and gave myself a charley horse.

After zyxst's gentle care and application of a heating pad, it's tolerable, but it's still there, a little stiffness nagging at me when I walk around.

I blame the cold, rainy system that's sitting on us like a toad on a stone for the past few days.

But if this doesn't go away in the next hour or so, I get to go to work with a minor leg cramp. As if the arthritis wasn't enough of an annoyance... (♫rain, rain go away, come again some other day♫)

I still can't get over the irony of how I got this cramp - stretching before I got up and walked around...which is what you do to avoid getting muscle cramps. :P

I hate that I have to write this Temporary Order and do a Motion to Compel on it because opposing counsel was supposed to do this and I now hate her for not doing her damn job. If she doesn't want to work on the case and her client isn't paying her, then she should freaking file a Motion to Withdraw!

COLLEGE/SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY INTERNET MODERATION SOFTWARE

Why?

Because it's inconsistant and ironic.

I got a flagged warning for visiting a single thread on the CoasterForce (nothing to do with beverages) forums. It was "Inappropriate content". I had no idea that roller coasters were so erotic or were so vulger. Well, some are nickedname Phallicoasters because they look like... yes... Google Topthrill Dragster.

But also, on my college network gaming websites are blocked.
I understand playing games is not a valid use of college computers. But why block video game journalism too? Maybe I am studying a course where this is relevent. Well I cannot. What's ironic is that the Libary is subscribed to the Video Game Journalist Magazine Edge.

Facebook is allowed. If anything's a bigger waste of college resources is FACEBOOK where you can play FACEBOOK GAMES.

Effing. Hate. Idiots.

Oh Youtube is safe too. That's the biggest sink of attention.

They probably just used a list of blocked sites they got from somewhere else (plenty of lists for sale so corporations don't have to make their own from scratch), with sites like Facebook and YouTube unblocked because someone with an ear to pull complained.

I could watch porn on my school's internet. The fact that they're blocking internet to me sounds ridiculous. The only thing my school blocked was illegal downloading.

My school would sometimes block IRC, but that was it (very annoying come Desert Bus time and it was 50/50 if I could get in chat).

My current work blocks nothing, and the Computer Use Policy doesn't explicitly ban pornography...

By "blocked illegal downloading" I mean they sent you a letter saying you could be kicked out of school if they found out about it.

Last few days I have been exhausted. Early mornings and late nights. Finally got some sleep today, a good ten hours, but I'm going to be doing more of these soon, what with starting another job and all. Oh well... money for the purse is good.

Im not saying that Governor Palin would have made a good President, or Vice President, she is clearly a voice piece for some really weird people who don't seem to even realize that the BS they are yelling doesnt relate to how they vote, but that aside.

She was a very good Governor for Alaska, she cleaned out so much corruption and cronyism that it turned the state from a third world banana republic into a state where the rule of law and the public interest had bearing.

If you dont like her for her national image, fine, but you might want to say you dont like her for reasons that aren't TINA FEY QUOTES!

"She said she could see Russia from her house! HA HA you cant see russia from Alaska"
No, she said she was the only Governor to get National security briefings because Russia is our neighbor, there are parts of Alaska where you can see Russia with the naked eye.

"She believes that Global Warming is a big hug from God!"
Same Skit! She is a adamant doubter of man made global warming in contrast to scientific data along with a lot of people but shes not a moron.

"She said she was going to make sure all the jobs at the UN went to Americans, They cant! they are other countries presidents and stuff"

Lets set aside that you dont know what the UN is and say AGAIN, that was a fake interview with TINA FEY!

"She doesnt even know that February has 30 days!"
February doesnt have 30 days... but that one came from a tina fey joke too.

"She thinks only teenagers should get married."
(I had to look this up) ok even out of context this one is a joke.

She did confuse the word 'Skirmish' with 'Squirmish', and when asked about the situation in Korea she said "Naturally we have to stand with our North Korean allies."

But I understand where you are coming from. I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin as a potential world leader, or as a personality, but I have to admit I don't know much about her record in Alaska. And if people are just regurgitating things they heard in comedy then I take issue with that. It's like when people make all the jokes from South Park about 'Avatar', or whatever thing is happening in the world at the moment. It's funny, yes, but do you have your own opinion?

Just to be clear, Im glad she isnt our VP, Im glad she doesnt have any REAL power over national politics, although you can make a case that as a fox news personality blah blah.

I think John McCain was the better of the two major party candidates, but she was a BAD choice and Im pretty sure she put the nail in the McCain coffin. she really doesn't understand the world, I know that, but shes not the Tina Fey Caricature any more than Phil Hartmans Clinton was the President.

I wish the lyrics of the music I listen to matches the musical quality of the song.
The genres of music I listen to enjoy exploring themes of human nature.

But sometimes I get songs which are just about "I'm angry". It's fine if it's a few songs. You need to vent. But when it's an onslaught of "grr angry lyrics" it does get a bit annoying. I'm not looking for Shakespeare. Some of the most powerful lyrics are poorly written, yet somehow the shittiness of the structure makes them great:

Being normal is not the norm; it is the uniform

I just don't want
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE NOW?!
again and again. It just means I have to spend time thinking of humourous potential backstories for these shallow lyrics. Like that song is about a wife getting angry at her husband because the husband keeps forgetting to put the milk back in the fridge and it keeps going off.
Meh, perhaps we need more domestic lyrics.

Please change your bed. It smells like something's dead. If you leave it too long, it will grow the pong. Then it'll need two washes, and it'll waste a lot of timeshes.

Oh well, at least they sound great.
Stupid metallic music genre.

One of my gifts is the ability to read a person inside and out. It pretty much makes games of intelligence and strategy very boring unless I find someone able to do the same. So far, there have only been three.

But the biggest problem? Me dictating step by step, word for word what is going to happen between two people and warning them to steer clear of the other. I say it knowing they won't. I say it hoping they'll actually listen to me JUST THIS ONCE!

Two months later, everything happened exactly as I said it would and I'm the shoulder to cry on. Again. And again. And again.

Just once. Just once I'd like someone to actually listen.

It's even worse when they just talk right over you and you get a grand total of three words out of your sentence. Then they ask you a bunch of questions that would have been answered if they let you finish THE REST OF THE FUCKING SENTENCE! I've never had a single sentence take half an hour to finish before.

Honestly? I think I'd be happier being a hermit. What's the point of having the ability to see everything coming while simultaneously having the ability to be ignored when trying to warn them? It's just making me angry and stressed out while solving nothing.

A lot of days I just think I don't belong around people and I'd be much happier being hidden from the world.

Okay, I was dating a guy and it was going great. I made sure not to move the relationship any further than he was comfortable with. He had me meet his mother. He had me meet his friends. He asked to spend time with me. I told him up front that because he was younger and a virgin that I wasn't going to push anything. I made sure that he was comfortable with every step of the relationship.

Then, he breaks up with me because he's not ready for a relationship. Well, FUCK YOU, guy! I'm awesome! I am an attorney! I'm beautiful! I'm amazing in bed and I'm pretty sure you're never going to find another woman as skilled as me! I'm also nerdy and could nerd out with you on the same level as your friends. So, again, FUCK YOU and FUCK your breaking up with me with out warning or reason! And, Fuck you for acting like it wasn't a big deal when I had to pick up my things (that you told me to leave in your apartment) from your apartment.

Apparently I've been walking around with pumpkin cookie dough on my pants for the past 9 hours, and no one has said anything. I hate not be able to see past my tummy.

EDIT: I also desperately want a bed frame (currently a mattress on the floor). I've had to sleep on the couch the past few nights because it hurts my back too much to get out of my bed. It makes me so grumpy.
