What Does Your Username Mean to You?
I'm always curious about people's usernames. Does yours mean anything in particular to you?
"Prospero101" has been my go-to username since I was a sophomore in high school, when I read The Tempest and thought Prospero was the coolest name EVAR. The 101 has a bit of a double meaning. To me, Fallout 3 is THAT game. All gamers have that one game that made them a gamer, and Fallout 3 is that for me. It's also a prime number that's perfectly symmetrical. Which I think is neat.

It's my name! Well, alright, it's one of my names.
Based on nothing in particular, but that doesn't mean it's meaningless to me.
For me the ability to wield an alias (or set of aliases) means freedom.
If anything the freedom of not having to explain to people how to write my name

About 10 years ago, this was said:
Leigh is one of my closest friends, he's much like a big brother to me. It's more meaningful than ever to me, as he's struggling in his battle against cancer.

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
Ix is the nickname given to Ford Prefect when he was at school; his real name is almost unpronouncable and comes from an old Betelgeusian dialect spoken only by his father, the sole survivor of the Great Collapsing Hrung disaster that befell Betelgeuse 7. Ix means 'one who is not satisfactorily able to explain what a hrung is, nor why it should choose to collapse on Betelgeuse Seven'.
As you may be able to tell, I love Douglas Adams.
Collapsinghrung was the first name I could think of when choosing a domain name for my blog, and so I thought Ix was quite a good pseudonym to write under; I never give my real name out online. Gradually, it became the name of more and more of my various online personae, so my username is a literal description of me: my [internet] pseudonym is Ix.

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
Mine comes from a name generator on the D&D site. You had to put in the first and last letter of your name, and it connected two parts of names based on those. Mine came out to Jamfalcon, I liked it. I named my first D&D character that, and stuck with it online.
Funny coincidence, years earlier my first account on the Internet was on Runescape. I spent quite a while trying to figure out a name, and in the end I just decided to combine two things I liked: peanut butter and penguins, making PBPenguin. Amazingly, I didn't notice the similarity to Jamfalcon until years after I started using the name.

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
My user name is used because it's pretty unique, so nearly all sites I sign up to have it available. And people are more likely to remember it, since it's unusual.
Plus I just have something against numbers in names when it's used like Naruto897.
And I prefer remembering one user name then several.

I'm happy to see most user names are capitalized. I have an aversion against non-capitalized names.

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
Narcuru is an Elvish "word" that I made up using two roots (i don't remember which elvish dialect offhand though): nar- which means fire, and curu which means craftiness or wizard. Essentially it means Fire Wizard.
When I was younger I wanted to make a elvish name for myself so I created something that was like: Sar Erethirin-en-Narcuru (spelling of the other words is suspect, it's been a long time since I used the full name). I shortened it to Narcuru when I made my first DnD character and I've used it since for almost every character I've made. Diablo 1, 2, 3 (all wiz's/sorcs), DnD characters (both were wizards and both speced in fire spells), and my first character and main until I stopped playing in WoW (fire spec mage).
Basically, it's my go to name for anything character creation related and forum names.

Hehehe.
I made it lowercase because having one of the letters capitalized makes it look bigger at one end. Auberginequeen. It's like a slope. I imagine people pronouncing it like "Aaaaahhhhhberginequeen."
AubergineQueen? Aubergine Queen? Meh, kinda pretentious imo.
auberginequeen looks like a straight line with some sticky-outy bits (the b, g, i, and q). I like straight lines.

Because that removes the element of surprise when they play TF2 with me and are promptly burnt to a crisp. I prefer to lull them into a false sense of security with my itty bitty unimposing name.
Also Prospero, you might be interested in these two previous username threads, includes some people who aren't around much anymore (ergo greater sample size):

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
I first used this username about... Eight? Nine? years ago, based on the fact that I like logic puzzles... And then because it was Runescape I was signing up to as well, all I knew about it was that you could fight with swords, so I stuck the two together.
Now I answer equally to Jon and Logic.

Re: What Does Your Username Mean to You?
also uncapitalized name, funny enough as it's a abbreviation.
GCNinja (usually how I spell it, guess younger me was lazy). An old friend was "the white ninja" as he'd dress in a white ninja outfit. Me being into ninjas worked off that and decided on Grand Canyon Ninja (where I lived), but that seemed too long so GCNinja it became, though now it's gcninja because I suck at capitalizing. Albeit I am moving over nicks because I feel that I don't live there anymore and it's something new. I figure it's time for change.
