Re: DB007
Thank you all so much, both DB crew and everyone in chat. I love you all so much. Desert Bus is one of if not my favorite time of the year and this year was just full of so much win. I eagerly await Desert Bus 8 (subtitle tbd).
To see that total soar in the last hours like that was incredible and I'm thrilled to be (while rather tiny in the scale of it) a part of such an incredible feat.
While I can't wait for DB8 I am already anticipating DB9 and seeing what could be done when you have more time without doing the weekly sketches. Whatever the future holds for LRR and DB I'll be with you guys all the way.
Much love from your fellow Canadian embedded in Largo, Florida.

Re: DB007
Also, the Cam stinger was pretty sweet. Best Desert Bus yet, but taht's probably because I got to tune in for more than ever before. Probably somewhere in the 50 hour range. Unfortunately my current place of employment doesn't give out vacation time during November/December due to being in retail, but maybe one day I will achieve my dream of laying around the house for a week doing nothing but watching Desert Bus.

Re: DB007
That was amazing. For the last few years I've set aside this entire week as a holiday from all other obligations, and I think this is the most I've ever managed to watch. I got four to six hours of sleep most nights, and spent no more than two per day doing other things, so that's probably... somewhere in the area of 110 hours. So much laughter, so many feels, and so much fun.
Huge thanks to all the people that make this the best part of my year!

With that ending total, the feels, and the Thank Yous, I just have to ask...

I probably saw anywhere between 80 and 100 hours this week, the most yet. I forgot what day it was two separate times, and fully QWOPped out at least five times.
I wish I could have donated this year, and that I hadn't had to back out of the Craft-Along due to migraines, but maybe I'll have the time and funds to donate twice as much next year.

Re: DB007
I think I watched... 90 hours or so? I pretty much watched Desert Bus, ate, and slept.
I did think of a cool idea for a craft-along item. I might try to make it, but I know I won't be able to. The idea is to make a set of Pikmin plushes, if something llike that would be possible.

I really have to know: does anyone here have an idea where Cam's stinger speech came from? I really want to find it myself, because it was just a beautiful ending to an amazing week.

I don't know for sure, but he tweeted a link to this just after the stream ended, so I expect that's it.

This was my first Desert Bus after finding LRR back in January. Wow. So inspirational on so many levels. Mostly because it simply demonstrates a bunch of good people, who are also good friends, doing something they love, and bringing all of that together for a good cause, and in doing so creating an even larger community who do their little bit to make the world a better place.

To everyone involved your all extraordinary people and I congratulate you on raising so much money for kids.
This was my second Desert Bus and I gave what I could this year and look forward to 2014, the year of LRR!

I had to miss the ending, but tuned in just in time for some major feels before going to bed.
I again want to thank the entire crew and chat for another great inspiring year of Desert Bus.
Finally, how the bus did we hit over half a million?! I was sure this was the year donations where going to plateau.

The highest-grossing auction of the year was a pack of silica gel that James found on the street
are you really surprised by anything at this point

I had to miss the end too, second bussing year in a row, totes sadface...
I can't wait for the Video Capture Strike-Team to finish uploading everything, gonna see what I missed, and then maybe feel justified in my misery? This is starting to seem like a bad idea.

And here's that odd feeling of loneliness and not quite remember what it was like to have silence in a room again that hits every year after Desert Bus.
This year was amazing! I missed most of the last couple of hours as I have work this morning but I managed to wake up again to catch the last half hour. Well done to everyone involved, be it crew or fans.

One year at the World Fantasy Convention, the winner of the award for best novel, Graham Joyce, in his acceptance speech, likened the convention to Brigadoon, where a community coalesces out of the mists of time. It doesn't matter how long has passed in the interim -- you meet old friends once again as if no time has passed at all, picking up year-old conversations where they left off, and enjoy the companionship that can only be defined and enhanced within the short-lived intensity of the event.
The veil has descended on Desert Bus, but for those who faithfully await, the mists will part once again.
