I figured Deathstar would get the right picture in mind. I did forget the correct name for the ship class, but I will always remember the weapon. "Stellar Converter" just sounds bad-ass.
i didn't even think of the running it part, it wouldn't hurt to try right?

Oh man, I just found my CD for the original Master of Orion, XCOM and XCOM TFTD. They just look so incredibly old now, but the gameplay is still pretty decent, if easily exploitable.
Does Cameron have a list of a few things he would especially LIKE to play next to maybe narrow this down a bit?

I think his primary choice is Civ V (Venice, Deity difficulty).

My favorite thing to do was let the enemy players colonize the toxic planets that couldn't be terraformed... then so long as there was another planet in the system for me to colonize... I'd blow up the enemy planet making an asteroid field. On the other planet I could then build the "artificial planet" option and convert that asteroid field into a planet that could be terraformed.
You couldn't just blow up uninhabited planets and certainly not those inhabited by your own people... well unless it had been captured by the enemy...

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
I'm not entirely sure what Cam's limitations are. But assuming that we're just limiting ourselves to easy to obtain streamable games. Then the humble bundle and the like seem like reasonable places to start. So the humble store has cool stuff like monaco, worms armageddon, ftl, binding of isaac, europa universalis, and the like. But this still costs some amount of money which might be prohibitive.
Other possible games which are fun to watch but free include myst uru, which is definitely a cool game so long as you haven't been spoiled for all the puzzles, warframe, which is mostly just a cooperative shooter but with some rpg elements which add levity, or perhaps in a more tbs style something like card hunter or duel of champions might be suitable.

HI Cam,
I would like to see you play one of the TOTAL WAR games (preferably Rome 2)
and even if you don't stream them I strongly recommend you check them out if you haven't already. Barring that, I'd vote for Civ 5

So, what is to become of the X-Cam list, and those who didn't get killed off? Can the subscribers be rolled over into something in the new game?

Presumably we will roll over the old list into a new one customized for whatever game is chosen next, and everyone that was used in XCom will be marked as such so that those who didn't get picked will have priority.

another option for a game that would definitely have Cam living up to his stream name is: Dark Souls

I will say I hope he doesn't go a do a game that's come out in the recent few years, as I already picked up the new X-com because of this playthrough and don't want to by another game

If he wants some old-school action, I'd really love to see him play Impossible Creatures.

+1

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
Cam, fancy trying Impossible Creatures?
It's an RTS where you create your own units by combining DNA of two animals.
In Quick Match mode you pre-create your Army and you're locked into it for the remainder of the game.
In Campaign, you collect DNA samples of animals over the course of the campaign. You can create and edit your Units mid-game.
It might be fun to stream because Chat can suggest which animals to fuse, and the monstrosity can be named after Subscribers.
e.g. LRRBot could be an Elephant-Lobster and tears buildings apart.

The only thing you need to learn when playing this RTS over the others is the creature making system. Everything else is simplistic.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
Yeah, IC is awesome. Fiddle with the dudes to give them awesome powers that aren't too expensive, build your base, and fight. Campaign also has you gathering the samples, so you've got to keep the one guy alive. Other than that, just make some awesome-looking creatures and make them fight other creatures.

Impossible creatures has two; Grizzly and Polar. You can combine them both, but I don't think you get anything exciting. They're roughly the same, just one's more aquatic than the other. Not like mixing a Sperm Whale with a Lemming (You get the unit with the max possible HP in the game which is essentially 100% Lemming, but 100000% bigger).

I look forwards to not having to put a disc into a drive just to play a game.
Hopefully they'll make multiplayer more accessible and absolutely murder my interest in the game as my skills aren't good enough for competitive play

Especially since my discs burnt up in the fire and now the games that are legally installed on my computer will no longer play.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
I'd like to go the civ/MoO2 route with my suggestion and point out the relatively new game Banished. There's no combat in it, but it's resource management and production and lots of micromanaging and the hard mode appears to be pretty hard from the few videos/streams I've seen. It's a small scale SimCity in the late dark ages, basically. I've heard people reference Towns while playing, which is (as I understand it) an isometric Dwarf Fortress lite, though as above, no combat in Banished.
Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
A couple of things that came up in last night's stream:
1) I wasn't reading the chat when EVE came up, but you should not be turned off by the vastness. The stories you hear involve huge things, but as an individual player your universe is generally fairly small, and you can pick an area of the game that's sized to your tastes as you get further. That said I would wait until after the end of the semester to get into it, but if you want an extended free trial there are a lot of us here who could hook you up. You would probably really enjoy it.
2) Sins of a Solar Empire is awesome but kind of an RTS (kind of), but if there's any RTS you would enjoy it's Sins.
3) More Alpha Centauri would be awesome.

When the upkeep takes longer than the main phase, I know I've done my job well.

Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
If Cam wants to play more space TBSs, I would highly recommend Sword of the stars 1.
An EXCELLENT game, whose only problem is that no-one have heard of it
the sequel is a pile of poop and the in universe game "the pit" have nothing to do with the series.
But it have really different races (where humans are not the average race), randomized tech tree, and MP-focused so the turns pass quickly. The game-play is turn-based, but the combat is real time, like total war.

If I'm half-mad, then which do you think I consider my better half?

I'd suggest Papers please as a pivot game
Re: A Swiftly Tilting Cameron
I wonder if Cam would like Star Ruler. It's a nice little RTS/Strategy thing, in which you can design your own ships. The optional pause makes it nearly a TBS. With the Galatic Armoury mod, the choices are almost endless. I'd be more than happy to gift him the extra copy that's sitting in my Steam Inventory.
