Does the Masters of Orion music remind anybody else of the Red Dwarf theme? Because it sure does for me.

With the Galatic Armoury mod, the choices are almost endless. I'd be more than happy to gift him the extra copy that's sitting in my Steam Inventory.

But the trouble with star ruler is that the challenge from the AI is mediocre and the game is unstable and crashes a LOT when you play a game with a normal sized map...
And 10-20 minute breaks where you fiddle around with making your ships does not make for a terrible exciting stream...

Cam definitely needs to check out Endless Space on Steam for another game like Masters of Orion 2. I had to look to see if there wasn't some link between the developers of the two games, because they nearly play the same way.

I hated Civ V when it came out, I thought it was a good wargame but they had nerfed all the rest of the stuff that was distinct to the franchise. But after last night's stream I'm tented to try it again.

LoadingReadyLive is dangerously increasing my backlog.

If Cam ever tries Crusader Kings 2, I know the Expert mode for it. Earliest date available, play as the king of England. I just randomly went that way when I got it without knowing England falls 8 days later.

I'm making an effort not to put Both Jazzpunk and CivV on my whishlist, which would email me the sale announcements.

I actually liked the basic Civ V from the demo...and then I got the whole schmeer with a steam sale, and was confronted with the added complexity of keeping track of RELIGION, too. :?

Sadly, that just turned me off of it; it's in my backlog, but it's gonna be a while before I have the time (and free brain cells) to wrap my head around that in addition to all the other variables one deals with in running a civ in a Sid Meier game ;)

On most difficulties your religion decisions won't matter too much; after all, there is no religious victory.

That being said 5 is the most approachable Civ game ever. You can definitely jump into it without knowing what the hell you're doing.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but is there a suggestion list for ASTC games? If so, I'll put up a GoG 4x game for consideration and gift it if approved for streaming. It's not so old as to be "Book of Passwords" material, but not so new as to be all shiney'd into McRTS blandness, and it is a unique concept that (to my knowledge) hasn't ever been done before. And it's fun - ships, fleets, missiles, mining, money, building, population happiness - all the basics pretty well done.

Edit: well fine, if we're all just throwing them out there, the game is Fragile Allegiance. I would say one of the high points is turning one of your asteroids into a mini Death Star and sailing in into the midst of your enemies, launching fleets and missiles in all directions and finally ramming it into an enemy asteroid for the blaze of glory. Tons of fun :)

Yup...I was completely turned off to this game until a week ago. Damn you Cam! How much is Steam paying you :P

I'd like to see him take a stab at Conquest: Frontier Wars. It's an RTS rather than a 4X, but it does have a couple of things I haven't seen others do, at least not to the same extent.

I can just imagine a bunch of TERRIBLE walls being built, 30 minotaurs stuck over in a corner, and FARMS EVERYWHERE.

A bit late I know, but for Kim Stanley Robinson books I HIGHLY recommend the Years of Rice and Salt. One of my favorite books of all time. I also loved the Mars books, and while 2313 is interesting it is not his best work IMHO.

Seconding Years of Rice and Salt.

Also, if you haven't encountered him, Alistair Reynolds and the Revelation Space triology (and spinoff prequel Chasm City) are an amazing space opera. Well-written, based in known astrophysics (the author being an astrophysicist) and really interesting.
When the upkeep takes longer than the main phase, I know I've done my job well.

Since Cam likes Civ maybe he can play Sins of a solar empire? I hear they are similar, but I just really like space games.
