Okay, once again, given how this day needs to end and I that discarding no one will put us on the back foot, provided I haven't missed the deadline.

(Is that Ace of Skulls a reference to the excellent 'Tales of the Ketty Jay' series by Chris Wooding by any chance?)

Re: Cards on the Table Mafia: Third Hand
Well, that kind of blows.
I hate to say it but this is what I was afraid of. So many people role-claiming makes it so easy for the mafia to track down power roles. On the flip side, it also theoretically makes it easier for us to pinpoint mafia. We need to get on this, fast.

Ok, so we're at 10 cards, 3 non-town. Does the math for everyone laying their cards out now work better than yesterday?

Re: Cards on the Table Mafia: Third Hand
Well, let's crunch the numbers.
Say everyone still alive roleclaims now, and 3 of them (Aces and Joker) lie. There are also 4 (I may be wrong exactly on that) who have already roleclaimed. Even assuming we are pretty good at figuring out who the liars are, it will still take at least 4 days to take out all of them. I don't think those are great odds, but given that 4 people have already roleclaimed... we're basically in that situation anyway. So we need a lot of good luck to get on track.

I think if we can get lucky once more, and hit an Ace or Joker tonight, then we have the numbers, but without any info from our deceased discarded investigator, I don't like our odds.

I'll be honest, I am mildly suspicious of Conoros. He's flown under the radar quite a bit, and the interplay with Kapol yesterday has made me look aside at him.

Re: Cards on the Table Mafia: Third Hand
Role claiming seems like a poor choice regardless of the circumstances. First off there's no way to tell who's lying if two people claim the same card, we could quite easily hit a good guy. Secondly, it pretty much paints a target the doctor, who we don't want to lose at this point, while we may get rid of the Joker, who at this point would probably help given his investigation role, we would lose the limited protection we have.

Not sure which posts with Kapol you are referring to though?

I am referring to when Kapol said I was the first to mention the joker. When I pointed out that it was you, he backed down; it's thin, but I wondered if that showed a link between the two of you.

It is a pretty weak comeback after being wrong about you to just backtrack and accuse me directly right after?

Re: Cards on the Table Mafia: Third Hand
To be honest, I just feel like I have nothing better to go on than what is more or less a 50/50 shot of hitting an Ace or Joker out of the remaining folk who haven't role claimed. Anyone got a better idea?

I thought that back-and-forth between you and Kapol seemed a bit staged.
So, if fair's fair, then tell me why not?

Wow, I survived! didn't expect that.
So, on the last hand four people didn't vote kapol: Conoros (voted me, then korvys) Hepheastus (voted me, then korvys, then no-one), Tapir (didn't vote) and Ix (R.I.P.)
I strongly suspect Hepheastus, so much so that I'll

Re: Cards on the Table Mafia: Third Hand
While it's good to look at voting patterns is a good starting point there's nothing that could have stopped say Preacher and Ptangmatik of being Aces and voting for Kapol to divert suspicion away.
That being said I'm strongly suspicious of Hepheastus but not enough to vote right now. I'd like to hear a bit more.

Well to start with, of course fair's fair. If we assume everyone who has role claimed so far is being honest (because they weren't called out), there's a 1/3 chance that I'm an ace just by who is left, and my best guess for how to proceed is blind guessing so I can't fault anyone for doing the same.
However, the accusation that it seemed "staged"? "Staging" an argument like that would achieve nothing and would make absolutely no tactical sense. If Kapol and I were both aces, why would I want to be lynching him and defending the joker? What nonsense.
aeric90: unless someone now comes forward and calls Ptangmatik a liar, we can reasonably assume he role claimed accurately and is therefore not an ace. Preacher I don't know about. I can understand the lean to Hephaestus, though, as he has also been flying under the radar a bit, like Conoros.
