Turn 2, Island, Ensoul Artifact the Citadel, look at my indestructible 5/5?

HOLY SHIT! That might actually be a thing in standard, especially if you add Ornithopter into the mix. How the hell am I gonna deal with a 5/5 indestructible attacking me on turn 3?

EDIT: nevermind, Nemesis of Mortals, Nighthowler, Golgari Charm and Lothleth Troll calmed me down. Still, a 5/5 flyer on turn 2 is gonna be problem.

Not only that, making an aura or equipment a creature makes it unable to attach itself to anything. There's a reason Opalescence specifies non-Aura: because it would cause those Auras to fall off, which would cause problems if Opalescence is destroyed. (Thankfully, equipment don't have such shortcomings.)

Yeah, because it doesn't have the aura problem, is there any reason why it couldn't still be equipment and attached to creatures as normal? Not sure why you would bother, but there's nothing I can think of that actively prevents equipment from also being a creature and still functioning as equipment.

Actually, there is a rule that specifically disallows this from happening
Comprehensive Rules wrote:301.5c An Equipment that’s also a creature can’t equip a creature. An Equipment that loses the subtype “Equipment” can’t equip a creature. An Equipment can’t equip itself. An Equipment that equips an illegal or nonexistent permanent becomes unattached from that permanent but remains on the battlefield. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)

Ensoul artfact of course is sexy with all these artifacts.

Doubletree is interesting. Powerful no doubt but it does kind of work against ramp strategies. Still, even two 4/4s is a good deal, and they'll likely keep growing. Good combo with life's legacy.

I like Doubletree. I think it works really well with Nissa, if nothing else. I will say, though, that a blue equivalent would be awesome in a Brago commander deck. Hmm... Maybe I have to build a Bant Tokens deck.

Why Prismatic Runeguard look like a character from Final Fantasy XIV? And why I okay with this?

Also, COME ON! 58 cards left over, and only Hive, Hivelord, and two other Slivers??? Where be the Tribal?

On the Tribal note, anyone gonna try Goblin Tribal? M15 has some sick new ones.

Goblin Rabblemaster looks like a mini-Piledriver. I think a Modern Goblins deck might have a home for him.

Oh, Modern is getting so miuch fuel, but I was thinking Standard. Rabblemaster looks awesome, and Kaboomist looks fun. Krenko's Enforcer looks strong, and with enough drops, Denizen could get in good beats. I think it's possible, but they need just another little push towards that direction. The red Paragon and Obelisk of Urd helps, but...it just feels like it needs ONE more thing.

I love the Kaboomist, in terms of just being a fun card, and Rabblemaster seems neat for Modern. Might fill a Piledriver-esque role of dealing damage.

Hi, Modern Slivers! What's that? You say you need an analog for Crystalline? Have I got news for you... (Also, apparently the Predator-style slivers have women among the hive. Besides the Queen obviously. Huh.)

Heck, that sliver alone makes me think we might even see Standard Sliver decks for the next 3 months.

Theros block? We're over it!

As broken as ever.
Artifacts, on the other hand? Sorcery, 2GG or 2RR to destroy them all.
I sure enjoy watching LRR!

I wouldn't want to meet them though. I'm very allergic to cats and fun.

Back to nature? Ugh. I just finished building my constellation deck. I really didn't need to see a 2 mana wrath my entire board effect :(

Honestly, they could've pushed bestow/constellation a little bit more if they knew they were going to reprint Back to Nature in M15. That card hoses the entire enchantress archetype, it's probably not viable anymore.

I just realized, Back to Nature also just straight up wrecks Naya Hexproof. No enchantment is safe.

The release notes are now out: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/release-notes-2014-07-07

Looks like The Chain Veil does not care about the timing of when you activate it; each activation simply adds an extra loyalty activation and you don't need to use an ability in between Chain Veil activations. Much much easier to understand and deal with, though I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up going the other way.

Interesting note about Master of Predicaments, you don't actually need to reveal whether or not your opponent guessed correctly if you wish not to cast the card or you can't because they got it right; they can make a guess and then you simply do/say nothing.

So... this is weird to me:

There are 15 additional cards, numbered 270–284, that don't appear in Magic 2015 booster packs. These are reprints from earlier sets that are present in some supplemental products, including sample decks and the Deck Builder's Toolkit. These additional cards have a Magic 2015 expansion symbol and are legal in all formats in which Magic 2015 is legal.

The additional cards are Aegis Angel, Divine Verdict, Inspired Charge, Serra Angel, Cancel, Mahamoti Djinn, Nightmare, Sengir Vampire, Walking Corpse, Furnace Whelp, Seismic Strike, Shivan Dragon, Centaur Courser, Garruk's Packleader, and Terra Stomper.

MaRo explained why those cards are legal and even in the decks in the first place in his Days of Core, Part 2 article if you scroll down to "The 'Extra 15'": http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/days-core-part-2-2014-06-30

I wonder if they'd ever create something that is just "The Core Set", a list of cards that never cycle out, but not a set in itself. The cards would be printed as part of other sets, but never alone.

You could put all the basic stuff on it, Elvish Mystic, Serra Angel, etc. Stuff that's not exciting or powerful, but the baseline.

That's sort of what they've done here. They aren't printing these cards (except as part of the sample decks) but if you have old ones, they are legal to play.

Well, that was sort of the original idea with the core set, but it was deemed too unexciting, and veteran players would never be excited by it, and in turn, new players were less excited. People would just get enough to get what reprints they need, and then not touch it.

They might utilize the sample decks/deck builder's kits again, but I doubt we'll see it occur in any greater scale.
