Shameless Self-Promotion Thread!

Postby Trisha Lynn » 14 Jul 2014, 09:07

As we all know, one of Wil Wheaton's favorite things to tell people is to go out and make things. I think we need a thread that's all about the things that we've made. Doesn't have to be a physical object, it can be things like a webcomic, a new post to a group blog, something that you and others have made together, etc.

The only stipulation I'd put on this post is that you should only be allowed to post about your thing once a month so that we aren't inundated with spam/marketing stuff. And I would probably stipulate further that each post should have no more than one link.

What do you think?

I am trying to get into Youtube Video production.
It's not going well:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulCNdPF9Ly8
Fuzziness and Windows Movie Maker refusing to publish it.

At least you can see how I'd draw a character by someone in a style I don't enjoy drawing in, so I approach it in a way that I enjoy it.

General Michi: I just listened to your album and it's pretty good! I'm not sure what genre of music it is, but I like your voice and really appreciate your guitar playing.

'kay, so here's the main reason why I started this thread. I'm the admin assistant/future office manager for an indie video game company called Games Omniverse, and part of my duties (until we can hire a full-time blogger) is to wrangle content for our blog and social media sites. But because we're in very pre-alpha right now, there's not a lot I can report on about the game, so I'm running some content that's semi-related but hopefully interesting.

Today, I just published an interview with Ursula Vernon (the Hugo award-winning creator of Digger) about her interactive fiction game called Cryptic Stitching. I chose her to interview because a) I have a connection with her already and b) her aesthetic of "story first, mechanics to follow" meshes with our company philosophy.

Check it out, why don't you?

Since I have no shame, I may as well mention a thing me and my friend have been doing for about the last year and a half.

https://www.youtube.com/user/ABunchAusGamers

We're not very good. But we...play games is pretty much all I can promise.
Do you guys mind. I'm trying to write an essay

Its probably not a good thing I feel the need to put a disclaimer after everything I say

This is a thing my and my friend run.

I feel awful. We didn't even use the limber last weekend. That's just flagrant false advertising on my part and there's just not excuse for it.

Oh, all right. I have marginal amounts of shame. And I also have a webcomic. One I've been working at for... oh... 12 years or so? With sadly less frequency than I'd like (actually obtaining and working a job does that), but still, it's a decently interesting serial fantasyish story and such. I'm told it's a good read, at least.

It's here: http://dementiaofmagic.net

Enjoy!

It's broadly in the category of self-promotion...

I'm doing Steptember this month! It's a 28 day long fundraiser for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. My team page can be found here: https://event.steptember.org.au/donate/ ... d6be349b7c

My serialized online novel thing is getting to a point where I'm not speechless with embarrassment when I think about showing it to people. I think all it's missing is some amount of readers clamoring for more frequent updates to encourage me to write them, really. Do you see how it would benefit us all if you clicked that link and started reading? It's the right thing to do.

A few weeks ago I decided I would try my hand at making videos to put on the internets.
Mostly me being bad at video games and building models to an acceptable standard.

I've been enjoying it so far, hopefully others do also!

Well, mine costs money (and was put into another forum), but I released a book last month.

It's called "Garwulf's Corner: An Odyssey into Diablo and the World Beyond the Video Game," and it's a collection of my old computer games issues column from back around 2000-2002.

The print edition is at http://www.amazon.com/Garwulfs-Corner-O ... ap_title_0

And the ebook is at http://www.amazon.com/Garwulfs-Corner-O ... 8&sr=&qid=
