Let's make this the official discussion thread, meaning spoilers are okay here. Sound good? It should probably be in the title of the topic though...so......Mods?

Well looks like I'm not going to read the book, since
Harry didn't die and Snape loved Lilly(which kinda was not a big shocker, but it though me off not wanting to read the book.

I only read the the last chapter, and I REALLY hope that nobody(including J.K. Rowling) trys to make any more books.

She said she is probably not going to make any more books about Harry, but I would love more books about the same wizarding universe.

She hasn't really established much about the universe. We know virtually nothing about how wizarding society is structured, or even how it interacts with the mundane world.

Still haven't read it, but I like that idea Flea.

I mean we have the muggles and the mudbloods, as harry is considered a pureblood. That leaves a lot to be discovered. However, I think that Rowling may take a break for a while, as trying to write another series after such a hugely successful one ends may cause comparisons, and any less than perfect reviews will make people think "it's not like her Harry Potter books" and no books will survive.

Well, according to Wikipedia... The story ends in 1997 so when Harry/Ginny's, Ron/Hermione's and Draco's kids go off to Hogwarts it's 2016/17... Maybe that's when we should expect a new book?

Or prequels... Or cooler yet, other schools. :o

Why is no one mentioning the freaking TRAGIC deaths here?!?! I was almost hysterical when Fred, Tonks and Lupin died!

Why was this not mentioned in the above Spoiler listing?

Like, it was sad when Mad-Eye died and I wheeped a bit for Dobby. But COME ON.

It was beautifully done really. And I loved it that Teddy was still connected with the Potters so much at the end. Thank god for Godparents.

My god I'm tired...But I finished actually reading the book before midnight, so I did in the 24 hour mark. I was just off at Luminara for awhile, so I couldn't post my triumph. Bed time for me to make up for the lack of sleep yesterday.

CyberTractor, you got one wrong in your list

Hagrid didn't die, since he appeared at the scene, when Harry let the the seventh horcrux be destroyed and then carried him back to the castle. Also he is mentioned in the 19 years later to be still at Hogwarts.

All in all a very good read, altough i would have liked another 50 pages or so descibing the time after the battle.
How people cope with loss of friends and how the finally free of the looming darkness take their first steps into future that we got a very short glimpse of.

Blah. I completely overlooked that part, then.

My friend has my copy now, so I'll have to look at that.

I didn't want Hagrid to die, and when he was carried off by the spiders I was quite sad.

She wrote it exactly how she wanted it to be read, you can't expect more than that.

BTW: I don't know what I'd have done if I read it all in 4 hours. Wait 8 or so years for 4 hours? I gave myself 24 hours to read the whole book. It was quite satisfying. Plus at midnight, they gave out free cake and drinks at the store the night of release... that was cool.

J.K. Rowling stated that there will never be another book in the world of Harry Potter. She says she had thought about it, but decided no. She states that the 7th book would tie all loose ends to the story, thus finishing the series.

I thought Hagrid was gonna die. He should've died instead of Fred. :(

It was sad how he just passed by Colin Creevey's body too. There were a couple of off-hand deaths that sucked pretty bad. Lavender Brown too. (Or at least I'm under the impression she was killed. Either that or hurt REALLY badly.)

-Edit-

Also, in this weeks video James has money on Harry dying. But would he win that money? 'Cause Harry was dead for that one chapter...I dunno. Would it count? What do you think?

Other, I guess less intriguing deaths, but deaths none-the-less are as follows:

Bathilda Bagshot
Gellert Grindelwald (By Voldemort in Numenguard)
Gregorovitch the foreign Wandmaker

Those were amongst many, including Death Eaters. I just thought the above three were worth mentioning because they played an important part of the Quest for the Deathly Hallows.

And as answering the previous two posts:
Lavender was not killed. She was merely extremely deranged.
Also, Harry was not ever dead. He asks it specifically when he talks to Dumbledore. It was somewhat like The Matrix in that respect when Neo is stuck between the world of his mind, and the world of his body.
