So, we all know that a certain day's coming up...

Pancake day!
Yeah, I'm still single
So what are your favourite toppings?

I used to be a diehard muscovado sugar and fresh squeezed lemon man, but in 2014 I was seduced by the delights of sliced banana and cinnamon.

Savoury pancakes are a bit too much for me, I just wouldn't know where to stop wrapping things in delicious pancake, until I'm trying to corral minestrone with some mad thing baked in an oven with a bowl as a mold.

Blueberries & maple syrup for American style pancakes. Marmite or chilli jam for British. Also pancake cake is a thing...

Sugar and lemon on NORMAL pancakes, and just a small bit of butter on american ones. :P

Uh... This is the first time I've heard of a difference in pancakes. What's the difference?

I'm guessing she's referring to Crepes as "normal pancakes", which seems to be the norm outside of North America.

Oh crepes... Interesting... Crepes seem more like a dessert than a breakfast to me, but I'm weird. :)

It depends on the topping really. There are savoury crepes as well.

I'm fairly impressed by House of Cards. It's one of the first pieces of media I've seen that does a really evil character as the protagonist without flowering it up at all.

The plotting gets a little far-fetched at times, but I could listen to Kevin Spacey be sociopathic in a Southern accent for days on end and not get tired of it.

It also has the distinction of being one of the few pieces of entertainment to make me audibly gasp in shock.

I'm willing to forgive the plotting getting far-fetched, as that's not really abnormal for 'scheming' characters. Though I admit it works out a little too well sometimes. I feel is more believable in the second season at least, where he has to go on damage control when his schemes could be used against him.

It's never made me gasp, but it's left me slack-jawed a couple of times. Like when the body guard cut his hand in the second season.

Anyone know if there's any money in creating streaming overlays for people?

I sat down to watch Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, wanting to see what all of the negative fuss was about, but realized about 10 minutes in that I'd already seen it when I was a kid, and had forgotten the title.

I still don't understand why I mostly see people taking stabs at it and declaring it a horrible movie. It's not amazing, but it was a pretty nice movie.

I think some of the hate comes from it being a stand-alone Final Fantasy movie with no tie ins to any of the games? Not sure, it's been a while since I saw it last but I remember enjoying it when I did. I'll have to find it and watch it again.

Then again, I tend to be able to find enjoyment in movies nobody else can. For instance, I enjoyed watching Dragon Ball Evolution.

Also, the CGI, while not awful, did not live up to the hype that was promised.

Shit! The Escapist fired MovieBob! What the hell is going on over there? Revolution? Budget cuts? Somebody fart?

Huh... didn't see that coming. It's surprising to me at least. I always thought Moviebob was one of their bigger features outside Yahtzee.

Same for me, Deedles. It really seems like they're jettisoning all their talent, Yahtzee notwithstanding.

Soooo...are they trying to fold up the business, but not make it look like they're deliberately shutting things down, so they're just 'making bad decisions' until it nosedives into the bedrock?

There is a particular person that I really can't stand at the Escapist. No matter how much I try to stay rational about it, I can't help but think it's their fault. Still, there are lots of employees at the Escapist that I love. I hope they land on their feet when (inevitably, I think) it shuts down.

I like Yahtzee! Never really cared much for MovieBob.
But yes, the Escapist has been firing or (not getting along) with a lot of people as of recently. Shame. I do like the site, though!
