I gave a more in depth answer to this question once before, but I can't be bothered to dig it up.

I use Apple's Final Cut Pro on a G5 iMac, with 1GB of RAM and a 400GB HD.
It makes video go.

I used to use a significantly less powerful laptop, but that started to suck hard. So when we won the Rock the Vote contest, it was time to upgrade.
