Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
So 3 new cards have been spoiled:
Those three abilities are now also evergreen.
Thoughts?

It's really convenient that they finally created a keyword for the Goblin War Drums effect.

Just how menacing is Boggart Brute that he can "Menace" Emrakul into not being able to block him without a buddy for moral support!

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
So are they going to Errata old cards to reflect this?
Belligerent Sliver: Sliver creatures you control have Menace.
Blood-Chin Rager: Whenever Blood-Chin Rager attacks, each Warrior creature you control has Menace until end of turn.
Madcap Skills: Enchanted creature gets +3/+0 and has Menace.

It seems likely, Memo. Compare darksteel citadel from before and after Indestructible was added as a keyword ability (e.g the original versus the M15 version.)

If they reprint them they will add the Keyword yes, but you wont have to for example remember for tournaments to declare "that is an illegal block because of menace"

I'm so stoked that Prowess and Scry are now evergreen, being two mechanics that I really enjoy and suit my style of play down to a tee.

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
Yeah, but I was just thinking that there are plenty of cards on Gatherer that have errata that never got reprints. And, of course, you don't have to worry about that type of thing. It's just a rule clarification, more like, rather than a "change" just like "Reach" became a thing after cards with the ability (not yet named) existed.Lord Hosk wrote:If they reprint them, they will add the Keyword yes, but you won't have to, for example, remember for tournaments to declare "that is an illegal block because of menace"

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
Perhaps it's just because of the traffic the mtg website is having, but I can't access any articles. So how do you know that prowess, scry, and menace are now evergreen? Bloodthirsty was in core set 2012, exalted was in 2013, and convoke was in 2015. And none of those were evergreen.
Edit: ok so I finaly got on and saw the article showing the 3 new keywords. Kinda surprised that prowess got evergreened after less than a year of play. Not super surprised about scry though

Caught this one off TappedOut:
Avaricious Dragon
Creature — Dragon
Flying
At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.
At the beginning of your end step, discard your hand.
So basically.... Sarkhan (KOT)'s ultimate is now on a dragon?

So much this. I can't wait to see how both will shape upcoming sets now that they are gonna be a standard component of Magic

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
So my friend saw new Gideon and decided he sucked, but I'm still convinced he's awesome, so I made this deck focused around flipping him as soon as possible. What do you guys think?

Name the deck "Flipping off my friend" and you've got a deal.

Italics don't work, but I added the html for it anyway to emphasize, lol. Anyway, what do you think of the deck? How would you recommend I make it faster?

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
Looks really good. I'm just wondering if there's room for the following cards:
Akroan Crusader (Nice target for some of your instants/sorceries)
Break Through the Line (Haste your couple of non-haste creatures)
Fleetfeather Sandals (Same, as well as give them flying, so they more likely hit)
Hammerhand (Cheap, gives haste, removes a blocker temporarily)
Impetuous Sunchaser (Haste + flying = more likely to hit)
Messenger's Speed (Just another cheap haste-giver)
Twinflame (Helps for an easy turn 3 flip)
Valley Dasher (Haste bears, what's not to love?)
Also, for sideboarding, if your opponent is playing heavy early removal, I'd recommend a Sideboard with more Dash creatures plus some Warbringers. Maybe also Satyr Nyx-Smith as well to build up your board if you don't draw well and get flooded with lands instead of cards.

Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
Some of my recommendations:
Add:
Goblin Rabblemaster: Gives hasty tokens to attack with, as well as just a must-answer threat. (As a note: I believe that this works with Gideon, while Launch the Fleet does not. Rabblemaster's tokens are made before combat and have haste and are declared as attackers, which triggers Gideon, while Launch the Fleet tokens enter the battlefield tapped and attacking, which I'm fairly sure does not trigger Gideon's flip ability. While Launch the Fleet is still good, you may want to cut one or two if you're making Gideon flipping the focus of your deck.)
Dragon Fodder: Synergizes with Rabblemaster and provides another set of bodies to attack with
Foundry-Street Denizen: Probably a better one-drop than the Stormsinger, which is kind of low-impact as a 1/1 and slow as a four mana 2/2 haste.
Stoke the Flames and Lightning Strike: You need some amount of reach in an aggressive deck to finish off your opponents. Stoke also works well with the large amount of bodies you're pumping out.
Coordinated Assault: Likely better than Crowd's Favor. Assault helps two creatures win combat, while Favor only helps one, and you're not likely to be able to cast it when tapped out, as your aggro deck will have all its creatures in the red zone; Assault is cheap enough to leave up anyway.
Temple of Triumph: Good mana is important.
Cuts:
1 Gideon because of his Legendary status; otherwise I'd want four.
4 Kolaghan Stormsinger, for reasons mentioned above.
Some number of Soldier of the Pantheon. He is unfortunately blocked profitably by Courser of Kruphix and Sylvan Caryatid, as well as random Goblin and Soldier tokens from mono-red and Jeskai decks.
1 Lightning Berserker: This card is excellent as a Fireball-effect when you're flooded out, but is not as good in multiples.

The dream is turn 1 Kytheon, turn 2 Raise the Alarm, turn 3 attack with everyone and have mana up to make Kytheon indestructible if necessary.

Healcutter looks like it would be fun to dash in on turn 3 if they had one creature
Re: Spoiler Season: Magic Origins
Baby Gideon is pretty bonkers, Boros aggro certainly looks like it'll be a real force in standard.
That Death & Taxes is looking more and more like a menagerie of white legends makes me a little sad though.
Also new spoiler: Chandra mum & dad! I'm hoping we also get Lili's grandma, Gideon's schoolteacher, Nissa's bonsai tree and Jace's goldfish. Or something. (I don't really follow the lore...).

The goldfish memory thing has been disproven, but Jace doesn't have the best memory because that adorkable planeswalker keeps erasing his own memory. Jace pls leave yourself a note.
