Indeed, though At the BEGINNING of Lorwyn block we saw the Lorwyn 5 planeswalkers all introduced together as fully formed planeswalkers. If we assume that the awakening of the M:O planeswalkers all happen at roughly the same time, it would indicate that the events of M:O take places before the start of Lorwyn block, chronologically.

Liliana is pre-Mending, while everyone else is post-Mending. They did not awaken at the same time.

Consider me thoroughly alarmed. I'm generally a pretty stoic guy - but when I saw Piledriver spoiled, I was so surprised that my glasses slid right off my face.

Earlier I mentioned sligh, then we got this. I mentioned Death & Taxes, and we got ThaliaHorse. What's the chances that a Donate effect is on the horizon after Demonic Pact? (not really very likely...)

So for a while there it looked like I might actually manage to get through spoiler season for Magic: Origins without making a list of cards I urgently need to acquire, but then I saw this:

What i like about this card is that it is almost a card from the last YMTC that Waste Not won
Consuming Contract

At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one—You draw two cards and lose 2 life; or destroy target creature; or __________*; or you lose the game. You can't choose the same mode twice.

*This ability originally read "Cast a spell without paying its mana cost." That was judged to be too powerful compared to the others. If this design wins, we'll have a further vote to decide what ability will go in this blank space.

I am already sold on Magic Origins. The whole set could consist of this single card and I would still be happy. I tend to be a hardcore-casual in Magic, meaning that I play competetive decks, but only the ones I have fun playing. And I freaking love playing mono white Death & Taxes in Modern. This card goes straight into my deck. I just can't wait for my first 3 turns in a game to be, Judge's Familiar, Thalia, Vryn Wingmare.

So, Hallowed Moonlight, it's Containment Priest minus the creature plus a card draw. Might get into some modern sideboards if the Grishoalbrand deck and CoCo decks keep going up in popularity.

The Great Aurora is like... okay so I can cast a spell that costs more than some Eldrazi and then I get.... some lands in play. Maybe more than my opponent, maybe less. I honestly don't see the point of this spell. It's costed as if it will have some kind of cataclysmic effect but I can't even imagine why I'd want to cast this.

I guess Thopter Spy Network could be an interesting win con in a control deck? If you have like a Darksteel Citadel in play then it's going to be very similar to Bitterblossom

Yeah, Hallowed Moonlight seems like a good sideboard card, it's not only good against CoCo and Grishoalbrand but it also stops Splinter Twin.

Gaea's Revenge is interestingly different from having just "Protection from Green"

I remember Gaea's Revenge fondly. Have it in my Mimeo EDH. Terrific and scary beater. Surprised it dropped in rarity from M11. Might grab another for my Karametra EDH, since it's rare now.

Sigil of the Empty Throne? Wow this set has a ton of enchantment support. Where was this during ENCHANTMENT BLOCK?!

Christ alive Origins has almost as many Enchantment Matters cards as most of Theros!

I thought oloro was banned though...

Only if you're playing "competitive 1v1" Commander using the French rules, and I pretty much ignore everything related to that offshoot of the Commander format because it's always struck me as fundamentally missing the point.

So, given it's less than a week away, what's everyone planning on playing at prerelease? I'm conflicted. I want to go green, as it's my typical choice and there's the chance of a foil Nissa. But red seems so good. Like the common Shock+, or the uncommon Fireball+. Chandra herself isn't bad either.

I was originally thinking White, then Green, then finally settled on Red. I tried out a sealed generator (with and without seeded packs), and Red was consistently giving me useful cards. Specifically, I was almost always able to make a good aggro deck. I'm telling you, those Thopter tokens are insane.
