Got to read a little bit of P&P while hanging out in the wilds of the Loop Head Peninsula this weekend. Rather nice, although cut short by family engagements.
Often outnumbered, never outpunned.

Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

Haven't had much opportunity to read outside this week, so I'll have to re-open this quest at another time. D:

Didn't do any reading... but I did spend some quality time outside. Sat on an old log bridge and fed the catfish at my parents pond... hopefully that counts. Was too damn hot to sit outside and read. Heat index has hit 105 around here this week.

QUEST #28 IS NOW CLOSED

Image

Quest #29

Sleep is important! It is very very important. Make an effort to get at least 7.5 hours of sleep each night for five nights this week. I understand some of you might have insomnia, so if you absolutely cannot get that much sleep, at least spend that amount of time in bed, sleeping and reading or doing some other low-intensity activity (NO INTERNET). If you DO suffer from insomnia, consider reading up on causes and possible solutions. I know sometimes there is no reason (my entire high school life was is proof enough, and it still sometimes makes a resurgence), but being more informed is never bad.

Quest starts at 10 AM Pacific Time on Monday, July 27, 2015, and ends at 9:59 AM Pacific Time on Monday, August 3, 2015.

Good Luck!

A night when I get less than eight hours sleep is one where I can feel it the next day. I think I have this quest sussed :)

Do we have to get it all at once, or do supplemental naps count? ;)

It's summer, its miserable... naps rule.

I might actually have some trouble with this one.

I normally try to do these even though I am terrible about recording or reporting that I did them.

This one ain't even a possibility.

At one of my therapy / PTSD informational groups the doctor was talking about sleep being a stress reliever and a major contributor to good health and recommended that we get 7-9 hours a night.

She then passed out a hand out a "stress releiveing goal sheet" on it was that goal. My wife crossed it out and wrote "4-5 hours lets set some realistic goals"

Also you shouldn't read or do other "low intensity things" in bed. Your bed should be for two things and only two things, sleeping and sex. If you read for an hour in bed every night your mind and body will associate bed with reading time instead of bed with sleeping time.

Interesting, I didn't realize that. Reading in a chair by bed, then.

Soo...doing what I've been doing since I became unemployed? :)

(which technically is oversleeping - I function on six hours a day; because my wife records videos in the morning, I just 'sleep in' and dawdle in bed, listen to the radio, maybe read some...)

Went to bed just before 12:00, got up at 7:40am

Well rested, but a bit of a rush to get ready for work!

The weather has been terrible around here so I never got around to the last quest. This one on the other hand, I really should go for since I know I've been skipping too much sleep lately. Making sure you go to sleep and wake up at the same hours every night is just as important as sleeping enough hours, but I find myself not being able to hold up more than one of them at a time. This will prove a challenge but I'm off to a good start with this past night being eight full hours. Full of nightmares.. but still.

Unfortunately this one is impossible for me. I get at most a few hours per night, and as often as possible none at all. The times through the night/early morning are not at all what could be considered any kind of restful state, so lying in bed for a quarter of my life would drive me insane.

I went to bed at a reasonable time for once, but had a horrific sleep and kept waking up. So no success for me yet.

I've spent the last two days cleaning/rearranging/assembling furniture for my girlfriends bedroom, so I was wiped out last night. Got to sleep around midbight , I think, and then slept like a rock, barring a few pug-related wakeups, until 9:30. Now for more furniture assembly, woo!

Well, while I wasn't exactly sleeping the entire time, I was definitely in bed and not on my phone for about 8 hours last night. I had a few cat wake ups and loud neighbors, but I went to bed earlier and woke up earlier than I had in the last week or so, which I will count towards progress.

Went to 'bed' (does sleeping in a tent count?) Around 2 am. Managed to stay asleep until 9:30/10 Ish.

I slept in a tent because we set it up inside for a sleepover birthday, kept it up for the kids to play in, then we discovered it stole all the a/c air from the rest of the apartment and was 5 - 10 degrees cooler. So I slept in the tent. Hopefully I go to bed earlier tonight and get 8 hours of sleep.

Tuesday: went to bed at 12:30. Woke up around 9.

I'll be short tomorrow as I gotta get out of the house for 6, and it is currently 11 and I am not even home yet.

Slept from 11pm - about 3 am... got up and wandered the house, sprayed bug spray (why I woke up...), let the dog out, got a drink... eventually fell back asleep about an hour later. Slept from 4-9ish.

This is a good quest for me as I have managed to mess up my sleep schedule again. I think I got about six hours of sleep last night.

Seven and a half hour tonight, and no nightmares either, I'm doing good so far.
