Yeah, first time a Crapshot has had a stinger, and the second time one's broken 1 minute IIRC.

Also, I love the Looney Tunes nod.

Yup, came in to comment on the Ralph and Sam nod to the old sheepdog cartoons. Gotta love it.

Does that mean if they're working the same shift, they have to play MtG against each other?

Actually Ep 218: The Professor was the first crapshot with a stinger. It also took the title for first over a minute. It didn't want to leave any room for anyone else at the top apparently.

The third line of Ian's song in the stinger is a bit difficult to understand. Are these the lyrics?

Crack 16 packs, what do you get?
A lot of draft chafe and deeper in debt.

I hear it as "Day o' Judgement don't come, 'cause I can't go" which is straight from the original song, with "Day of Judgement" substituting "Saint Peter" here.

The notion that Paul's character has been practicing drafting with a deck of playing cards intrigues me. I can't help but imagine it as some sort of poker variant.

The players are dealt a 'pack' of 8 cards, draft that pack, build a 5 card hand, play out the hand as normal. Shuffle everything up, deal packs for the next hand. Draft direction changes every hand.

Or if you had a larger overall card pool (2-3 decks), you could do multiple draft rounds, though that would probably give the players a bit too much to pull-from in building a single hand... perhaps a set of draft rounds gives each player the deck from which their next few poker hands will be drawn?

Please let there be a "The Miner 3", providing some sort of closure? What will happen to Sam? Will he find his fortune? Will he get his DCI number?

Maybe at FNM Sam does awful, like you would if you've never drafted before, and feels out of place, but then in his final match his opponent wishes to draw because reasons, and so he actually wins a pack. And then he opens it and realise each pack has a rare!

I'm thinking that his exclusive exposure to commons will play into it in some way. Like, his unfamiliarity with other rarities leads him to only pull commons from each pack, but ends up doing surprisingly well and single-handedly kicks off the local Pauper meta.

That, or part-way through the draft he starts coughing, and collapses in game three of the finals. Smash-cut to the morgue; examiner announces that he died of Common Lung.
His widow looks on in tears as the store reclaims his winnings.

He becomes the Pauper Baron, and is on the way up, but at the finals of the draft he looses it all...

...That would be perfect, and then flash forward to his son(Paul in paper thin disguise) comes in and rises up to becomes a CCG Baron and telling the portrait of his parents he did it and he will never forget and he will help the common miners...

Much feels.

This makes me wonder, what's the most valuable common in the history of magic? What would him "striking gold" actually look like?

Agreed. At least that foil mythic ought to go some way towards saving his kid from the life of Common Mining, though.

Unless the Mine Bosses steal it from Ralph, as it was found while Sam was 'on the clock' and thus "company property"...

And there begins a tale of redemption and revenge, where Ralph must do right by Sam and make sure his best friend's son does not grow up to be a common miner, and somehow get back Sam's foil as it is the only thing he could ever give his son and take the family to FMN.

I was just wondering the other day what happened to all of those cards. Glad to see they are used for something at least.

And apparently it was a Shining reference that I missed, having never seen the movie.
