I just learned my grandmother on my Mom's side passed away this morning. I have never met the woman and thus don't know how to feel. I'm more upset at my complete lack of feeling than learning she passed away. Should I say something comforting to the relatives I've never met or stay out of it? Oh dear.

I found out that someone who I used to be friends with murdered someone.
I had no emotional reaction except for feeling compassion on the victim's family.

I guess how we react to things is how we react to things.

(I think I compartmentalized it into my heart in the "Oh Dear" heading, where violence in the middle east and other disconnected from me atrocities live.)

So this upcoming US election has me torn... If things go well, we could see a race like Sanders vs. Carson. That's a race that I wouldn't feel badly about, no matter who won. On the flip side, if things go poorly, we could end up with the catastrophe of Clinton vs. Trump, and at that point, I would seriously consider packing up and leaving this country.

I'm conflicted about that Memo, since while it would be nice to have a Republican candidate who isn't batshit crazy, Carson is still a climate change denier. Which very well may just be necessary as a Republican, but that in itself is depressing. Even more depressing is that any political call to action for climate change response would be merely lip service...

Well, everyone's got their faults. You've got to admit that he's better than any of the other Republican candidates, though, right? I'd rather have him than most of the Democrats or most of the other Republicans.

I might be biased towards him as a Marylander, though.

When you find a Youtuber who is doing an activity (doing reactions and running commentary) is entertaining.

But when they address the camera directly, goes into generic HYPERACTIVE PERSON FROM GREAT BRITAIN WHO IS VERY ANNOYING WITH THEIR ENTHUSIASM.

It's nice to watch people being happy. It's uncomfortable when you feel an urge to punch them in the face just so they'd calm down.

I have just made one of the most peculiar purchases I can remember: 40 rubber ducks. Sure, it was a very silly thing to buy, but the look of horror on my co-worker's face when he finds his desk covered in them will be priceless.

Psyclone - I'm in a similar boat. I'm on a major project that launches right at the end of October, which is super exciting! ...but it also means November is gonna be filled with less Desert Bus than I'd like, replaced by much less exciting operational support.

Mother made a comment yesterday that had a touch of malice about something painful to me.
Confront her about it today, she said she was just trying to wind me up; turns and walks away. Half arsed explanation and not a good one.

Made me sad and angry at the same time. The past two weeks haven't been good for me during the night and it is really tempting me to put something in to the confession thread to get some things off my chest.

Just came back from visiting my friends (with my friends) in Catalonia.
I do have a strong social base there and here. It is now very plausible from a social point of view to live there.

I need to visit again with much fewer Welsh contacts (even alone), just to see how much of my heart lives there.

I don't want to commit to a move, and to find that the only reason I loved it there equally to or more than back here is the friends that came with me.
