Okay, I saw something on a billboard today that almost made me swerve off the road. Later I heard radio ads for the same campaign.

To be honest, I can't decide whether it belongs here or in "the Venting Thread", so I'm gonna be lazy and just post it here, and link to it from the other thread.

So, you might not have heard about a Prairie wildfire that's been raging through northern Alberta - it rushed through the unincorporated community of Fort McMurray, forcing the evacuation of almost a hundred thousand people, and - after the fire had moved on, about 1/10 of the place's 26,000 homes were destroyed. Many of the people living up there (and working in the nearby Tar Sands) are expatriate Newfoundlanders, and being evacuated with no family or friends (outside of Fort Mac, at least) to stay with, came back to 'da Rock' for the interim.

So yeah, this happened around the first week of May:









And then, this morning, I see this on a digital billboard here in St. John's, NL:

Another fun thing. I was on the cusp of starting an international incident on Twitter with an ice cream company in New Zealand. I have a friend through the streaming I do. She bought a pack to cheer herself up after the earthquake and I joked that the Feast bars we have in the UK are better than their version made by Tip~Top. Their bars has vanilla on the inside and the centre chocolate is thinner.
We have some fun arguing and the company itself gets involved, backing her (typical). I then make a demand for a Vegemite or Marmite version, they are yet to inform me of their new line of flavours.

During my stream for World of Tanks I was blind sided by two tanks. One shooting me a few metres off. Another comes along and crashes into my side. It sticks its turrent into my tank's hull (clipping) and fires. As I explode I yell:

"I just got Trumped!"

Here is a cute story for everyone. I have a gaming group that I play D&D with every Sunday, and we rotate DMs. Friend we will call K was running today. Fifth Ed using Homebrew Final Fantasy FFXIV classes. This guy, Ben, hires us for a quest to rescue his wife, Rachelle, from some gnolls. He's stronger than us but he's got a busted leg so he needs some back up. We go on our way north, killing some raptors and some hyenas before we finally get to the Gnoll encampment, its a pretty easy ordeal. Our fortune teller friend, J, has been getting visions of a stone pedestal, the full moon, and a baby crying. We get there, its night with a full moon and Rachelle is on a dais with a gnoll mystic looking dude and a bunch of grunts. Rachelle is laying on the pedestal. Friend D drinks potion that lets him comprehend languages, hears that they need to sacrifice something pure in order to create the avatar of their god. Well this can't be good. D shoots one of them to get their attention. Grunts rush us, mystic stays back. Being the dragoon, I jump on over, take out the old dude real quick, thereby making them unable to finish the ritual, which makes them rage. NBD. The grunts fall over the next few rounds and we tend to Rachelle. Discover she is quite pregnant, ready to burst in fact. J finds a potion on the old dude, figures out its a potion that causes rapid aging. Give her a heal pot to be safe, she comes to. Reveals that the baby is Ben's she just hadn't got the chance to tell him before she was captured.

K (as ben): This is great news! It looks like the [K's real life last name] family will live on for another generation
J (out of character): Wait a second, that's not right. Ben's your dad's name, but I don't think your mom's name is Rachelle.
K (out of character): No, it's [real life wife]'s middle name.
Me (in head): zachgalifinakislookingatnumbers.gif Wait a second. If Rachelle is his wife's middle name, maybe K's middle name is Ben after his dad. He's never used real life people's names for characters before. And He only mentions last names if we ask or if its relevant. Really odd that he would use them here for characters who are about to have a baby. Is this his way of telling us he's gonna have a baby? Better not say anything because it will be really weird if I'm wrong.

So we go out to eat after like always and we're discussing random stuff per usual, suddenly

K: So I think you guys missed something really important tonight
Me: Oh no, I picked up on it. I'm assuming Ben is your middle name? *K nods*
D: Me too, I just didn't want to say anything in case I misread it.
J: (lightbulb.jpg) I completely missed it.

So yeah. she's a couple of months along. Hoping everything goes well for them.
