Re: The General Chat thread
Yeah, definitely the non-posting things are a lot easier to reach and notice now, which I count as a positive.
Re: The General Chat thread
I most say I do like the drawing I did for my avatar here. It fits so well with the general C64 graphics style todo a pixel-by-pixel drawing on a c64 colored background.

Re: The General Chat thread
In addition to the visual upgrade, the forums were moved to a newer version of phpBB. You might notice a number of small functional differences.

Re: The General Chat thread
I like it, but it's going to take some time for me to get used to. Many years of routine, gone quite quickly.

Re: The General Chat thread
Tbh I'm currently stuck in the: "argh, no its different and confusing and new and I hate it" train of thought. I'll give it some time to see if I can adapt. Personally I think the mobile version is not great, the larger layout maked it much harder to see whats going on at a glance. Especially now that it shows avatars and sigs.
Edit: hey, look at that, you can turn off avatars and sigs from the user control panel. Havent tested if it's persistent from mobile to desktop though. I DO want them to show there...

Re: The General Chat thread
For some reason, the "Go to newest post" button is invisible for me in the new layout. It's still there though; there's a weird gap where it should be, and if I click there, it does that function. But the button itself is invisible.

Re: The General Chat thread
I dig it so far. The layout for things seems a bit clearer now, but I couldn't say exactly how. I also appreciate the User Control Panel stuff being at the top; that seems like it'll be easier to keep track of things.

Re: The General Chat thread
Anybody know of a way to get the forum to use the full width of the available screen? Right now I'm looking at a 17 inch widescreen laptop and the actual forum thread takes up maybe the middle 1/3rd.

Re: The General Chat thread
I like it. My only concern is how there's no separation from the technical post details right above these words and the actual post content. Makes posts a little harder to parse to my eyes, like every post now has garbage stapled to their tops.

Re: The General Chat thread
Well, I personally always try to staple garbage to the top of my posts, so I'm glad it's now that much easier.

Re: The General Chat thread
Oh yeah... What happened to that? We had a thread tracking what had been completed and what was still left outstanding. Anyone know where that went?

Re: The General Chat thread
These forums are very important to me. I met my S.O. here. They have been the first tab in my browser for over six years. Lately they're not a good place for me to be, however. I'm going to try to make myself step away for a while. Best of luck to all of you going forward. I wish you well.

Nothing stopping you from bringing it back, or starting a new one.

Re: The General Chat thread
Thought about it but it wouldn't be fair on the people interested, if people are interested. I'm not around that often to manage an ongoing forum game. Guess that's why that one died out in the first place.

Re: The General Chat thread
We have a confessions thread, I wonder what happens if somone here has something they want to confess but don't want it put publically. Anyone had that issue?

Re: The General Chat thread
Like you don't want us to know it's you confessing, or you don't want it "out there" linked with your name? I have for the second, yeah, for sure. With the venting thread too. There've been times where I don't have a good outlet to say something to anyone I know in person and want to share it, but I know my forum name can pretty easily be traced back to a lot of details about me (and vice-versa) so I might not make it known to the world.

Re: The General Chat thread
Yeah, I was just thinking about it, I know we're a close community and trust each other a lot but kind of know that there are some who probably would want to say stuff but are unable to.
I don't, I'm perfcet.
