Having way too many unplayed games already.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Ubisoft is giving away 7 good games. If you don't mind using their PC platform and have account through them (or make one, I assume), you can grab them for free here. Highlights include Beyond Good and Evil, Rayman Origins, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Well, you can only get the December game for free, which is ACIII. Thanks though!
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Actually, they brought them all back for a week, but Kapol posted that on the last day of that promotion.
Of course.. someone else probably could have / should have posted about it earlier in the week
backs away slowly

I had also meant to say that that was the last day to get all seven. My bad, I apologize. And I had also forgotten to post about it earlier. Mostly because I kept on remembering it while away from the computer, then forgetting by the time I got home.
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Just wait until you find the enemies that require you to slash in a specific direction to kill them. It's a TREAT.
Also bomb rolling.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Assuming you mean me with Skyward Sword, I ran into slashing in a specific direction with the Deku Babas. And I actually ended up returning the game. The motion controls slowly tilted me out more and more. I was about to return it halfway through the first dungeon. I decided to give it one more shot. And then, as if planned, I found out the item you get from the first dungeon is flying-based. I finished the dungeon, saved, and took it back.
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
I finished Skyward Sword, but it was mainly out of a sense of obligation and not because I was particularly enjoying it. I remember thinking very clearly to myself after completing it "man, I'd REALLY like to play a non-motion version of that game" but honestly the game itself wasn't all that stellar either.
I'm so glad Link Between Worlds happened so I can actually look forward to Breath of the Wild. If BotW was directly following Skyward Sword I would probably not even bother with it.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Just bought Star Trek 25th Anniversary, Spelunky, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and Penny Arcade: On The Rain-Slick Precipice Of Darkness 3 on Steam. All in all, it cost me £7.
I'm very pleased with this, as Ghostbusters is one I'd had my eye out for a few years, but never got around to buying, Star Trek 25th Anniversary is one I'd heard a lot of good things about, Spelunky is one my brother introduced to me not long after it came out, and Penny Arcade is one that's been recommended to me a few times.

Remember that game Paul streamed called "EVO: Search for Eden"? A Fan Translation of it's predecessor on PC-98 was just released

Just finished inFAMOUS 2 + Festival of Blood. Had a lot of fun with them. Wish Festival of Blood was a "proper" full-length game rather than an expansion.
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
So apparently valve might be working on a new UI for Steam. No idea if this is actually happening, but those concept images sure look interesting.

I feel like the vampire powers were really cool. It's been a long time since I played Festival of Blood, but if the evil ending of inFamous 2 had been canon, I could easily see them being the basis for an archetype in a superhero/supervillain MMO based in that world.
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
So, this is coming out on Steam. Wonder if Beej & Ian will play it on NDTD.

The flying/flying into enemies was awesome, really built up on the freedom of movement mechanics from the regular inFAMOUS games. Staking fallen enemies and vamps in disguise was a nice detail as well. The one thing I'd change was maybe removing some of Cole's electric powers, or at least disabling the energy drain healing system and restricting it solely to sucking blood. Otherwise what's the point? Forcing the player to use the vampire powers makes more sense than just piling new gimmicks on Cole.

An update released for Copy Kitty today, and I gave the new content a run. Holy crap is it amazing. If you like Action Platformers, pick it up.
Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Switch comes out in just over a week. I'm way more excited than I should be for a Zelda machine.

I found Fake It to Make It, a browser game where you generate fake news to gain money. It's quite an interesting take on the world today, and how psychology works.

Chewing my way to Andromeda whilst avoiding spoilers. Chewing is a good verb to describe it.
