I thought that would happen at first too (at least down to their boxers), it just seemed natural for that to happen.

Wouldn't Canada be a really, really bad place to have a nudist colony?

Now, Florida... that I can see.

Yes, as you can see in the video all the polar bears would find us easy prey were we to strip down. Plus laying on an ice flow is pretty killer on the balls.

The climatic conditions are such that Paul could plausibly claim to need to wear two layers of shirts because he was cold.

Given that, a nudist colony would seem quite chilly. They can't spend the whole year indoors.

Point of note, having lived in Florida, I can dispell for you any and all misconceptions.

Florida sucks. No two ways about it. It's not endless miles of beautiful beaches, it's strip malls, development galore, gated communities, trailer parks, old fashioned fishing towns gone to pot, and worse. Lots and lots of really poor unhappy people, a significant amount of rich jackasses, a whole hell of a lot of nasty woodland, swampland, and grassland.

The coast is fucked up due to lack of foresight and management. Fishing is dwindling rapidly due to massive pollution and lack of regulation. Beaches aren't maintained, and are in fact actively destroyed by poor civic planning. Cities and towns were not designed beforehand for the most part, but cropped up as people moved to them. Education is ass backwards, lax driving restrictions mean any idiot can pilot a two ton deathmobile, and the economy sucks.

Visit Orlando for the theme parks and urbania, check out the Keys for a cheap Carribbean knock-off, hit up Miami for a Hispanic culture shock, terrible driving, and a mugging or two, and then top it off with a trek to the Everglades to catch a glimpse of a really people-unfriendly, yet ecologically vital, natural environment that is being rapidly destroyed by development and pollution. Then get the hell out of there.

~Alja-Markir~

Addendum - Getting naked outdoors in Florida is a bad idea. Exposing your skin to the elements gets you burned, bit, scratched, poisoned, stung, covered in pine sap, leached, and in all manners possible assaulted by the very rugged and stubborn natural world. We never leave our air-conditioning. Seriously. Living without it is insane. Not covering up outside is cooler, but more bug prone. The exception is when swimming. The few years I spent there I regret heavily.

Don't worry, the melting of the northern polar ice caps will put an end to all that.

Something like 60% of Florida is below 20 feet above sea level?

Yeah.... awkward....

This is how much we lose with just a 9 foot rise...
Image

That's pretty much every major city in the state. Even worse, agriculture is screwed because Lake Okeechobee's canals would all be flooded with salt water, ruining irrigation across most of the state.

Just think of the possibilities: Visiting Hemingway's house in Key West *and* scuba diving, SIMULTANEOUSLY!

And, in case you wanted to find a nude beach in BC: http://www.fcn.ca/pacbchs.html Mmmm. Primitive hot springs, too.

That was good, guys. I giggled copiously and my friend looking over my shoulder did too!

You took a very simple idea and made it complex and interesting.

Kudos!

Do not worry, any change in sea levels due to global warming will be slow enough for you to run to higher ground.

You could come live in Colorado. No way global flooding will get you here.

If "The Day After Tomorrow" has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't, all climatic shifts can be outrun - but only just barely.

Yeah, global warming sea rise would be slow enough, but you know what would really fuck Florida over?

An "Iminami", or mega-tsunami. The island of La Palma in the canary islands off the western coast of Africa has a unique geology that might allow it to collapse in such a way that it produces massive waves of up to 100 meters in height at the origin, and waves of an estimated 10-25m all along the eastern coasts of the Americas.

If someone really wanted to perpetrate a true act of terrorism, rigging that island to collapse would be perfect. Forget car bombs and planes, drown every major coastal city on the East Coast of America instead.

Tip: Sell them as collectors items

The avvie is interesting, T_g. Let's hope it's not a "too soon?" type of reaction.

As for the nudist colony thing, there are nude beaches in Northern New Jersey (Long Beach Island), so Canadia nude beaches probably aren't THAT big of a stretch.

Not that I have gone to one mind you.

Tank girl, that bridge collapse avatar is in pretty bad taste. Just throwing that out there. Really bad. Honestly, people die in bridge collapses.

Also, it's REALLY FUNNY.

Sorry chuckles, didn't mean to rag on the "epic lulz". Graham's seen it by now and commented in another thread, so I'll let the matter rest. But I still walk away thinking you're way more of a jackass than I thought, browncoat.
