I guess now we can look to all you slackers and say "You're so lazy, TOAST does more in one day than you do in a week."

I think the music was made of Garage Band loops.

The part that freaked me out was when they were feeding the ducks. That seems inappropriate.

This has to be the best Behind the Music spoof since More Cowbell. I laughed, I cried, I sent the link to all my friends. I can tell you guys put a lot of work into this one, it paid off!

I hope this isn't the end of Toast. Might we see some references in future videos, or maybe even a T-shirt design?

It was totally Behind the Music all the way! You've got Toast's discovery, rise to fame, and inevitable crash as he turns to booze and drugs all told in documentary-style. I can practically hear the voiceover saying "And that's when the laughter stopped."

Oh, and

I think this counts an exception since since it was used to make fun of Pitchfork.

Of course not. He's busy trying to rob banks and being tripped up by Toast, who is clearly his arch-nemesis.

I found this video to be awesome. Amazingly surreal, but rather excellently edited.

Nice. How did you manage Tally's black eye? It was very well done.

Very different. But that's good. I think you needed that.

Also, were you guys printing off the newspapers and such when I saw you in the computer lab? Or was that completely unrelated...

P.S. I realized later it would have been more fun to walk up to Paul and say "Wow! You're gorgeous!!" Next time guys ;)

i like the box of underwater utopia plans in the moving scene, I am one for subtle references, also the LRR logo on the mtv esque channel was awesome

looks like a looot of work went into it, it's as good as always, but not as funny...

nice catch. there's another reference in the video tho, see if you can find it. also, I completely disagree with those people saying this video isn't as funny as our previous stuff. I can't watch this video without nearly losing my shit. but then, I'm the same way with those games, which no one seemed to like as much as our other stuff.

Way to use GarageBand guys! Those loops have been out for about 1.5 years now and I have never heard them used that well before, good job! Great video!
(p.s. what was the inspiration)

They used a blend of blue and brown eyeshadow and foundation, and likely some dark red blush of sorts to give it that freshly swelling look. It's a common practice on stage to use makeup to get a real look of injury.

Yes, I'm a dude and I know about stage makeup. you don't like that? BITE IT SIDEWAYS.

Yeah, we think the video's too hilarious for words, but to each his own.

It's not that there are given "jokes" here and there, it's the overall ridiculousness of the video. The fact that a piece of toast, that never moves, can have all this happen to it. Matt's right, much like Those Games, I suppose it's an example of everyone involved (esp Tally and Nate) playing everything totally straight, like everything is normal, that's where I find the humour. It's different humour I guess.
Also, the shot of Toast remembering Matt, I laugh every time.

The loops were indeed Garageband/ iLife loops, which worked well due to their length and styles.

I actually wrote the "sophomore" bit as a joke, because I hate the music press.

I loved the bit at the end, where Matt bites the toast and throws it back, sorta signifying that not only has his life gone down the drain, but so has its taste. :P

Oh! Also, apart from the "stunt toast" (the ones that got eaten/ fed to ducks) it was the same piece throughout. It's kind of an irregular piece too, I think it's got character.
