Loonie at Parity with Greenback

Postby Lord Chrusher » 20 Sep 2007, 11:01

The Canadian Dollar is now worth more than the American Dollar.
Story

Popping across the border for some shopping is now quite attractive but the rapidly rising dollar hurts Canadian exporters.

Prices over here dont seem to be going down, so the tip here is to do your shoppng online! Sure you pay a bit more for shipping but you safe so much on the item. I never shopped oline before but have started doing it recently becuase the excange rate makes for excellent savings!

According to my local paper, it may take a while for the prices to adjust to the higher dollar, also, the higher dollar, in addition to hurting exporters, it also makes it less attractive for American businesses to expand into Canada. The call center that my brother works at it just barely hanging in there, because it's now even more expensive for the parent company to operate than it's state-side counterparts, but it beats the rest on customer service analysis (it's a phone insurance hotline thing, not telemarketing), which is the only reason it's still in business.

Lets have said party in the states where our money can buy more!
Tell a conquered man he has a new master, and he'll shrug. Tell him his new master wants a fifth of his annual income, and he'll go and find his pitchfork.

No the prices on the DVD's are unchanged as they are priced in Canadian dollar. While they are more affordable to Canadian fans they now have less of a return for LRR.

no duty free near your border? I can cross the border & get liquor tax less.

Oh, yes, I heard. My father takes it as sign of the apocolypse.

My question is this:

Why the fuck won't the damn soda machine accept my Canadian nickels?!? They're worth more than a US nickel damnit!

Because it's either larger than an american nickle OR smaller.

That wasn't a serious question.

.......

And it's actually done by weight, mostly.
