While the outward changes are relatively minor, I have made some backend changes that should allow us to deal with traffic spikes a little better.
The biggest change you will notice is that we have officially discontinued the Whatever Thing. Don't worry, the old WT videos are still available under our new Bonus category in the Archives, but it has become obvious that the WT is not going to continue as a regular update. It is entirely possible that there will be more WT-style bonus videos in the future, but the Bonus designation means that you shouldn't count on them.
The other major change is that we have removed the comics section. This was a tough decision, since comics have been a part of the site since the very beginning, but most of them are not updated anymore and we felt that they were taking away from our core awesomeness (eg. videos). Speaking of awesomeness, Kathleen's comic, Korea, is still going strong. You can now access it from the LRR Presents section on the sidebar.
As a housekeeping point, please note that now that the blog is in a more prominent position, most news type stuff will be posted there instead of here.
As always, let em know if there are any glitches or weirdness.

I like the "LRR Presents" box, it is very clear! And I like that the blog gets a thing on the top bar.
The only thing that has always sort of bugged me is that the LRRCast doesn't get a thing on the top. I always thought that as a good weekly thing that it deserved a place at the top. Maybe that's just me?

Although James writes most of the blog entries, it should be clearer who wrote a particular post.
Also the order of the categories and the video with in each category on the the video page when sorted by category appears random.

Remember to think before you post.
Please make the blog say who wrote the posts. It was like a brain teaser at first, trying to guess which LRRer wrote what, by means of mannerisms and disqualifying anyone who was mentioned by name in the third person ... but if this is becoming a big feature, it'll just frustrate me.
Besides, I don't think that third-person thing would work for Morgan ... I can imagine him writing an entire novel about himself in the third person.
EDIT: Simulposted with Lord Chrusher .. silly me for not hitting refresh that last time before submit.

"How many members of a certain demographic group does it take to perform a specified task?" "A finite number: one to perform the task and an additional number to act in a manner stereotypical of the group in question."

it looks like the number of views is off...ex: 1337 is way lower on # of views than before as is talk like a pirate...and ways to hide a body is now the 4th most watched?!
"I studied the ancient art of Origami gun making, and i've folded a pistol out of purest prose. This is an Origami 45. The most powerful poetry in the world."
Right. Also, the view counters are now tied in completely to Revver, and Pirate's views weren't counted correctly because it went up RIGHT as Revver rolled out 1.0, so some of the top 5 got re-jigged.
Basically, views before: Just our site, whenever the page was loaded (also inaccurate).
Views now: Revver stream finished being viewed on any site, anywhere.

The way the view counts has been changed. Previously the counts were based on how many times the video page had been viewed among other things. Now the view counts seem to only based on the Revver view counts.
Also The Whatever Thing entries on the video page need video lengths and view counts.
Edit: And I got ninjaed by Graham because I went and watched a Whatever Thing while I wrote this.

Can you leave all the old comics up on the server for those of us clever enough to still access them?
Edit:
Also, are the other comics forums completely deleted or can I figure out how to go back and look at those too?

Shandi's Verdict
I quite enjoy that ad as well. I really like all the changes I have noticed. Even the removal of The Whatever Thing from prominence as this way it is not sitting there in plain view, teasing us all.
I like reading the blog and it is suddenly much easier to access. Hooray!
