There's dragons, it's an age... finally! A game delivers!

Awww... First time through I actually thought the Seeker of the Chantry did say that what she was seeking was, in fact, the Chantry.

Chantry, Champion... they kind of sound alike.

Good episode. I presume the whole "That's not what really happened!" device was a compromise between the flashback narrative structure and the multiple possible endings? Because I can think of at least three much better ways to get around that problem just off the top of my head.

DA II was such a disappointment. It looks so good when you just get into it, and then at the end...:(

Jer summed it up when he said that the game makes you think that you're making a difference but you're really not.

And the narrative flashback model actually lets the writers get away with a lot. The player is overpowered at the start because the narrator is exaggerating, but it lets the players see what abilities they'll get and hopefully make them want to play - referred to as abili-tease in more than one source.

And it lets them get away (kind of) with the re-use of dungeons. So now the narrator can say "we went to a cave" or "we went to a warehouse" without needing to describe it in great detail. You go to a cave. It's just like every other cave, so it IS every other cave.

Unreliable narrator or lazy programming? YOU decide! :D

Yeah, I saw the vidcast. Summed up my experience very neatly. Such a disappointment.

Well done, Graham and Paul. I'm not normally an Unskippable fan, but your discussion of show dragons and "They're not really that threatening." cracked me up.

If it'd have been me, I'd have snarked:

Cassandra: "Start at the beginning."
Me, over title card: "Well, we can't start there. We're already at the sequel. Go back and buy the first game."

Well, DA2 was the beginning of Hawke's story. What happened to the Hero of Ferelden really doesn't matter to Hawke and the Chantry.

Watching the opening again, I did notice a bit of foreshadowing in it that, frankly, I should have gotten sooner.

And I really cracked up at, "You didn't let him finish his sentence!". Don't even really know why.
