Re: My Cat Hates This Thread

There's a tuxedo kitty that we wanted to adopt, but after being with it for over 30 minutes, both my husband and I realized we were terribly allergic to it. I hope the kitty can find a new home soon.

General Michi: I just listened to your album and it's pretty good! I'm not sure what genre of music it is, but I like your voice and really appreciate your guitar playing.

Re: Feminism general thread

The worst part of this is that we was too afraid to ask for a paternity leave for fear of losing his job, even for a few weeks. I quickly looked into this and DAMN, you guys in New Brunswick are screwed because family leave only covers the pregnant female. That BITES and is one more reason why men ...

Re: Feminism general thread

I have tons of friends having babies these days, and one thing comes up again and again. As much as many of them try their best to help and contribute to their wives/babies... there's really not much shit you can do from conception to like one year or so. The mother grows this thing inside her , an...

Or it could just be that some men are uncomfortable with the idea of child care because of lasting effects of a patriarchal society. Which is complete and utter shite, and I feel bad for you dudes out there who have been told or seen over and over again in the media, etc., that dads are hilariously...

Going into the social side of the custody debate, if a person doesn't try to get some form of custody or visitation, it doesn't look good to a judge or mediator. Whether or not the person actually wants to take care of the kids on their own (or until they find another partner), it's in the party's b...

Saying that you don't have the time to look up statistics does not give you a pass for making generalized statements. How do you know that your generalizations aren't from negative stereotypes? If you going to voice your opinions please give the rest of us the respect of doing some research to back...

Shameless Self-Promotion Thread!

As we all know, one of Wil Wheaton's favorite things to tell people is to go out and make things. I think we need a thread that's all about the things that we've made. Doesn't have to be a physical object, it can be things like a webcomic, a new post to a group blog, something that you and others ha...

Re: Feminism general thread

To answer the question from the very first post: I am a feminist. I also believe that men should be feminists because their personhood has been just as damaged by the prevailing attitudes of what "men" in society ought to be. I personally know men who have been: -emotionally abused by thei...

Re: Female Characters

I worked on one of the most historically/mythologically-driven games of all time: the classic MMO "Dark Age of Camelot." *snip* If you're putting limitations on your story by picking the narrowest possible social group and saying "Oh, I want my main character to be typical, in everyt...

Re: LRR Minecraft Server

Trixy: It's a 150x150 square maximum, so if you're in the middle, it's 75 squares on each side. Oh crap. I've been away from the server for a while and didn't see this and my area and where I marked my borders is 150 squares away from center. I think I've also built and/or tunneled all the way out ...

Re: The End Raid, I'm not going to be able to make it as I'd hoped due to working all weekend. Also, probably not going to be up for any kind of group activity until after we move. Also, did the Market ever have a "sell" option where you could sell things back to the Market and get a small...

I also couldn't justify traveling halfway across the country for a one-day thing, even if it is LRR-related. Especially since we're saving up for a house.

GYAH! I love this last one the best! Can you make it avatar-sized? Also, I probably should have cropped out the left side and the towel rack. Is it too late to do that? http://i.imgur.com/mG6vGai.gif ? e: it's obviously over 6kb so just use the imgur link instead of uploading the file itself as you...

I hate to do this, but can I please be added to this list? Not just because I want to watch the original Season 1 material, but also so that I can add something to the box as a thank you to the dude/ette who decided to loan out their discs to the rest of us.

Question for the GIF makers: What programs/online tools do you use to make your GIFs? I have GIMP 2.6 and would like to install GIMP's Animation Package, but for some reason I can't get to the FTP site where they have the program. For a set of images, put each image on a different layer in GIMP(Low...

Also: http://igrat.co/pix/lynn.gif How's that? Adjusting the delay's no problem if necessary. That's awesome! I think the timing's fine because there were only 3 frames to work with. Can it be cropped to be avatar-sized? What would it look like if the frames with the blurred hands were a bit faster?

Re: LRR Minecraft Server

So... Question: What's everyone think about May 17th for the End Raid? It's the Saturday after LRRcon. If I can get dewknight and Osprey, along with at least 3 or 4 other people, I'll go with it. :) I'm also not clear on how this works and what I'd need to do to "gear up" for it. I'm gett...
