Re: Your favorite kind of Cheese
Ok, I used to work at a cheese store. In no particular order: 5- and 7-year cheddar -- The 5-year will take your taste buds off; the 7-year has a very intense flavor, but isn't nearly as sharp. Butterkäse -- Mild and creamy, and fantastic in grilled cheese sandwiches. Gjetost -- Looks and tastes lik...

Re: Scrabble, DEAD!?!?
It doesn't sound like this will affect tournament rules, and if you're just playing a casual game at home, who cares what dictionary you use? My favorite house-rules Scrabble variation is QuAZARIN, where any combination of letters that can realistically be pronounced is fair game.

Re: No more DLing individual Pink Floyd tracks
So, out of curiosity, anyone know Pink Floyd's opinion of all the radio stations that will no doubt continue to play their songs individually?

You'd contest, because there were mitigating circumstances, and you'd probably win. Why would your options after getting caught by a camera be any different from your options after being caught and pulled over by an officer?

Re: brownies phail
Glad you liked it! Cinnamon's a good idea. How much did you use? I'm sure you could also substitute other flavorings for the vanilla; I'm going to try peppermint next time. This is my improved version of the recipe (the original had no salt or vanilla; it was pretty flat) and I'm still playing with ...

Jim, bring your laptop and watch here; we've got room and bandwidth to spare. And homemade chicken stock in the freezer for soup, too.

Re: Genetically Engineered Honey Bees
According to my uncle, (who's an entomology professor and presumably knows what he's talking about) CCD isn't nearly as big a concern to the science community as the media likes to make it seem. There are a bunch of different factors affecting bee populations, all running in cycles. Every few decade...

Re: Introduce yourselves! (A friendly topic for new members)
Hi, I'm Henrietta. In the real world, I'm Sarah, but I believe you have at least two of those already, and I usually go by Henrietta online anyway. I'm a friend of Evil Jim's, and his chief photographer and party decorator, so you've probably seen my work around here. I've been thinking of joining f...
