I would agree. LoL is not HoN and vice versa. And the flame war between the two is puerile. It annoying watching HoN/LoL videos and 90% of comments is just fighting. With HoN videos it's $2 jokes.

I personally like LoL a lot, but I've never really gotten into any other MOBA games. Are there any specifics on what's different between them, or is it all opinion based?

HoN/DotA you have various stats on items.

LoL you have Power Attack Damage Health and Mana (and strange stuff).

They're different enough.

DotA2 you're very likely to have a hard carry carrying his awful team to victory. HoN is like DotA2 but less extreme. LoL seems to be more team orienated.

I play HoN/DotA more so can't have a big enough perspective on LoL.

You can deny creep kills and heroes in DotA2 and HoN.

Anyone know if you apply for the DoTA2 beta getting in eventually is a certainty? I applied a few weeks a go, but I only ever played HoN and I played it very little (Mostly because soon after I started playing HoN my friend who got me to start playing got into the DoTA2 beta). The survey said they wanted players of all skill levels so I'd assume they would want some noobish players who can provide a newcomer's perspective top the game.

The HoN now has a better F2P model. All heroes are free for f2p accounts.

I stopped playing Dota2... the game is, I think, more fun than LoL but the community was just awful, and that's saying something compared to LoL... lol.

It does make me sad though because there's so much more depth of play to Dota

I haven't had too many problems with the Dota 2 community. It was definitely better than HoN's community, although that's also to with HoN's terrible matchmaking. So long as you practice on bots before you try pvp and explain that you're new most people will forgive playing badly. Yes, there are some people who don't understand that in order for this game to thrive it needs new players and treat them like shit instead of giving constructive criticism.

Ability Draft. Ready for your disappointment at humans' inability of creating a hero that functions.

Oh if anyone fancies learning DotA2 I'd be more than happy to coach. I'm not a Pro, but I know fundemental basics and I have the patience to teach.

Ability draft is loads of fun. Kind of hard though to balance stats, mana and abilities all at the same time, but in this mode winning isn't even the important part.

I find in Ability draft, certain heroes need certain passives to have a chance at acting like a carry.
Otherwise you'll have to stack lots of damaging abilities to make up for it.

Examples are that Huskar really needs his +attack speed when hurt passive, or the fortune of stacking a lot of carry passives.

To be reliably strong, you need 2/3 damage abilities and 1/2 late game scaling abilities.
Or go pure tanky-anti-carry.

Otherwise it's a lottery.

I hope the Meta in Ability Draft isn't set in stone. It'd be sad.

I've uninstalled DotA2 now because I noticed I don't play it anymore.
I don't like playing by myself.
I want to play with people I know.
No one wants to play with me.

I'd rather purge the game from my hard drive than plug into my external hard drive and move files around.

I enjoy the game. I just don't enjoy the other players to the same degree, at all.
