We were all actually kind of impressed.

I mean, the broad strokes of this game are wrong. SO wrong.
Who Dante is, his motivations, his relationship with Beatrice, the overall theme, are all just dead wrong.

But the details of hell are actually surprisingly accurate to Dante's original text. So... yeah, it was kinda cool.

That's what got me interested in the game. I like to think that, on a parallel Earth, this game is a point and click adventure game. Seriously, I feel sorry for the art team at Visceral.

Edit: Tim Schafer should do that with the Kickstarter money!!!!

I foresee Dantes Purgatorio to be a lot like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwgLx7yNsJc

They seem to be working for me, so the problem is likely on your end. Have you tried the Quicktime versions? There's a link under each video. If that still doesn't work, maybe try watching them in a different browser? If that doesn't work, maybe clearing out your browser's cache would help.

I'm sure someone more technically knowledgeable will give better advice soon.

I just tried #4, and it doesn't work. It loads and plays the ad, but then goes to a black screen saying "Sorry, we're unable to play this episode."
The download link goes to http://j-mirror.video2.blip.tv/LoadingReadyRun-GPLPDantesInfernoPT4673.m4v which is a 404, which might be related.

I was going to suggest trying the LRR youtube channel but it looks like Dante's inferno is the only GPLP series that didn't make it up there, unless it's just hiding.

I did only check one video (#3), so it's entirely possible that the others could be problematic.

Acutally I just noticed that #3 was the only one missing from his list :P Good thing I didn't also click on that one at random, since I just had 1-7 in my mind.

Oops, I completely missed the #3 wasn't on his list. I'll go try the others.

Edit: Yeah, I'm getting the same thing on all of them, so it's probably not something you can fix, you'll just need to wait until they're fixed I guess.

Looking at the magic for, say, ep 4, it looks like the two processed versions (the higher-res and lower-res versions you can switch between in the Flash player) of the video are missing, but the original source video that they uploaded is still available and able to be downloaded... It is, however, a much higher filesize than the others, as it looks like LRR usually uploads very high bitrate movies to blip, and lets it convert it to a more web-friendly bitrate when they process it.

We'll look into that. I blame a recent change on Blip's end. Paul should know what's up.

Oh no. Oh nonononono. Guys, there's a direct-to-DVD animated movie based on this game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dante%E2%80%99s_Inferno:_An_Animated_Epic I... no.

No.

No, I'm pretty sure everything you just said is a lie, and I am making absolutely no attempt to verify it.

I'm actually really surprised no one has made a Facebook group for everyone in the No Pants Heresy.

Fun fact! If you do a Google search for "the No Pants Heresy", the first result in a synopsis of a Simpsons episode!

I read Dante's book (yep Purgatorio and Paradiso included) some years ago and since I never played the game I was looking forward to the GPLP. Sucks the way some circles were incredibly short by comparison to others, and how they treated Malebolge - which is one of the most terrifying circles in the book - as a dumb challenge arena. Also surprised at the lack of enemy variety, considering you get tons of abominations in the book (and tons more if you count the Dore engravings). Still, kudos for a fun LP :)

I just wanted to say that I've begun rewatching these. I'm still on the first episode. But Brad's 'Eat her soul! I know you can do it!' followed by 'Use it to buy upgrades!' is one of the best moments in any GPLP, or even any Let's Play I've seen.

Also, I might as well ask here, are GPLPs basically dead? By which I mean, is the streaming stuff just going to replace them?

I think that's the whole idea behind the live streams - they enjoy it, but wanted a more casual situation with a dedicated streaming setup and the time to actually make use of it.

Yeah. It'll be less GPLP and more GPLS: Graham and Paul LiveStream
