Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
I swear I felt like Ive met this guy before. He reminds me of allot of people I know. ESPECIALLY when it comes to movies vs the book/comic it was based on.
Are you sure he's a superhero at all?
Recognize him? Heck, I've been him in my weaker moments. Not directly telling people they can't do stuff, no, but trying to decide for everyone what's worth their time.
I'll be here trying to resist sharing the video prematurely just to defy the Gatekeeper a little bit. Must remember, it's only make believe.
The fedora is a nice touch by the way.

This was... bizarre. Fun, but weird. Except, LRR is usually weird, isn't it?

Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
So my thought processes through the video...
Intro: Looks neat! Well done.
Harassing Jer: Oh, I see where this is going. Haha.
Jer just picks up another of the same comic after he leaves: *snerk*
Stealing Dudebros' game: That's just theft! Call the police, dudebros.
John Hurt doesn't count: *snerk*
Theft of Wii-mote and calling police: Yes!
Kidnapping Paul: *full-out guffaw*
Stinger, taking it to its logical conclusion: *smile at perfect execution*
Also, while I know why you didn't do it, had The Gatekeeper really been serious, he should've stolen Kathleen's character's shirt, too.
Also, Graham, while I suspect that you thought you were either out-of-shot or were going to cut earlier, I can see you starting to put down Paul at 2:10. While possibly considered an "error" in some respects, I choose to believe it foreshadows the stinger.

Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
I know in my heart and brainbits that G said "Tennant" during Kathleen's scene, but my ears swear they heard "ten". I honestly don't know which version I prefer.
Excellent video all around. Also, Beej makes a scarily convincing brony.

I love it when LRR tackles stupid internet culture
I agree with some of the youtube comments. I hope this goes viral, because some people really need to see this (though I doubt they'll get it)

Alex patting Beej's butt was just so perfect.
As was everything else.
But John Hurt does count, just FYI.

Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
Graham's continuously rising voice pitch is what really sold it for me. Lots of great small jokes too, like Jer just grabbing another comic or the butt pat.
After a second watching, it occurs to me that this video has a decent chance of being shared fairly widely outside of the LRR fandom. It's such a perfect mockery of this type of person, and these arguments happen all the time...here's hoping.

Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
This was mostly funny, but the MLP part ruined it for me.
Don't get me wrong, I think the show (like most kid-friendly shows) should be free to be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders, but a large percentage of bronies are just as much gatekeepers as the character himself, to the point where they honestly believe they are the show's primary demographic and should be treated as such.
I peeked at the comments a bit before watching and honestly expected The Gatekeeper to be the brony instead of the other way around. As it is... the whole thing just feels off.

I liked the way this was shot, with people minding their own business and the gatekeeper being on the attack. That is actually a problem. Makes a big difference between that and dealing with someone acting like they care about a fanbase for the attention with it.

Re: NEW VIDEO! - The Gatekeeper
Having you explain the meta-joke of wearing a tribly instead of fedora (on the stream) because that's the kind of misconception a Gatekeeper-type person would make has raised this to a level of brilliance. Bravo!
He habitually wears an expression as if he had determined to drive his head through a brick wall, and was about to do it (Description of U.S. Grant)

So it's not a fedora, but just looks enough like one to fool the untrained eye?
You might say that joke went over my head.

Re: The Gatekeeper
Great sketch guys. It was a fun riff on everything. Though I noticed one thing: Kathleen isn't given a credit in the appearing section of the credits. I don't know if anything can be done about it now, though. Still, maybe worth mentioning.
Re: The Gatekeeper
Now to apply the gatekeeper to this video:
Nobody can watch this video unless they have watched LRR since 2003 and watched all 10 season up to this point...because I said so and am the gatekeeper!
Loved the video, made me chuckle many a time.

I was thinking "Uh oh, you lit the Brony signal" but then Paul got carried off and I forgot about that.
This one was excellent, by the way. May it spread like wildfire through the enraged internet.
