Announcing: CheckPoint on PATV
May 9th, 2011

Happy Monday everyone!

We’re extra-super thrilled to announce the premiere of our new series, CheckPoint, and its home on Penny Arcade TV.

A whole bunch of you loved ENN, and we loved making it, so when the opportunity came to produce a similar series for PATV, we were very happy to get back behind the news desk.

CheckPoint is the first weekly series on PATV, and it joins Unskippable and LRR as Monday updates, just to add a little front-load to your week’s dose of video content.

The same team that wrote and produced ENN (Graham, Kathleen, Jeremy and Paul) is back with a fresh coat of paint (literally), and we hope you’re as excited to see our unique take on gaming news return as we are to bring it back.

So remember, Mondays: Check in, at the CheckPoint!

Bonus news!

CheckPoint brings with it a brand new theme song by LRR’s maestro of awesome, Bradley Rains. And so we’re also very pleased to announce the LRR Music Store will be going online today—finally, a place for you to buy all the wonderful little songs and musical pieces Bradley and others have done over the years.

Look for more info on that here, once everything’s online.

But wait, there’s more!

As we’ve been hinting on the LoadingReadyRun Twitter account, CheckPoint is one of two shows “replacing” ENN. Another new series will be premiering on The Escapist in the near future, watch for more info very soon.

  1. Fantastic! I was very sorry to see ENN go and now I can get my dry gaming news parody fix again.

  2. Music shop ohhhh G*d yes!

  3. Excellent news! I can’t wait to get my ENN-like fix. Also LRR Music? Can this day get any better?

  4. Yes! It was a shame to see ENN go, but this looks brilliant! I can’t wait to see what the other new series is gonna be.

  5. LRR Mondays just keep getting better! And the music shop is a brilliant idea.

  6. Checkpoint lacks one crucial feature of ENN:
Reminding me it is Wednesday, and that I should watch Zero Punctuation if I intend to keep up with the gaming quotes of the day.

    Otherwise it was brilliant 😀

  7. The page of your show (http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/checkpoint/) pretty clearly states “New episodes every Friday!”
Does the internet lie to me? o.O

  8. Oh wow it’s one of TWO shows replacing ENN…as Steve the monkey from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs would say: EXCITED!!

    Comment by Chaoswin — May 9, 2011 @ 1:40 pm

  9. @Rosenfeldt – I think that refers to the PA team’s own show, PATV. It’s just that this is being featured on the PATV site so has the message pertaining to that.

OT: A great return to form, and can’t wait to see what this new concept is! How are there enough hours in the week to work on all these vids and fit in another new one on top!?

  10. I liked it alot, better than ENN. i think this revamp has benifited you, you have ironed-out the kinks. Finaly I like the art style it reminds me of persona 🙂

  11. At first glance it appears to be ENN back to it’s original dry delivery and I am very pleased with this. 😀

  12. ENN evolves… Yay! My primary source for mostly accurate gaming news and features has resurfaced with shiny new paint. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

  13. I still don’t understand how you guys have the time in the week to make this much awesome

  14. ENN lives! Love the new music!

  15. This show seems to be better put together and more focused than ENN. The jokes flow better and the graphics are nice. Keep up the good work.

  16. Awesome. Looks like a good replacement for a good show.

  17. I would be amazed if the Persona-like graphic style isn’t on purpose.

  18. There is some high quality wit and a lot of obvious potential in this show. I will definitely be following this as it progresses. But for all the audio engineers out there, would it be possible to invest in some better vocal microphones?

  19. Cool to see ENN has reincarnated.

    “High-profile third-party Wii titles like……”
And Graham goes silent… and the big banner goes blank. Heh, nice one.

  20. God Bless Mon-LRR-Days!

Throw in a Crapshot, and we could be seeing 5 videos released from LRR in one day!

  21. Remarkable opening episode!
So happy to get my dose of vaguely ENN once again, they should have dropped Zero Punctuation instead, don’t tell Yahtzee I said that though.

    Comment by FeyLynn — May 10, 2011 @ 2:50 am

  22. Congratulations!

    Comment by Michiel — May 10, 2011 @ 5:50 am

  23. THANK GOODNESS

I was starting to get twitchy re-watching ENN again and again and again…

Feels good to finnaly have you guys behind the news-desk again, though I was really surprised not to see that it was on The Escapist… though on second thought, that would not make much sense since it was the peple watching the escapist that did not really like ENN (Blastphemy).

    Sincerely,
    The_Mystery_Chef

  25. I just want to say, remarkably funny.

    Really well done you guys.

  26. Checkpoint is great. Very funny as usual guys!

Can’t wait to see secret show number 2, keep being awesome!

  27. Buy some decent microphones! While the show has promise it sounds like you are broadcasting from under a pillow.

  28. is there an RSS Feed for PATV…I am a PA fan as well as a fan of “Scott Kurtz” of PVP – but I never got into the PATV stuff because of the lack of RSS Feed – the only thing I can see on google about it is a blog post from when it started in 2009 saying “they are working on it.”.

    Comment by Shaded Spriter — May 10, 2011 @ 6:16 pm

  29. i liked the episode, but i seriously thought it’ll be something completely new, like not a ENN copy, although its alot funnier than ENN, im interested in the other new series though, but with all saying dont forget your unskippable and loadingreadyrun series, cause your unskippable isnt as good as it used to be, but still love you guys

    Comment by OZITOMAE — May 13, 2011 @ 3:27 am

  30. I had a dream including the LRR crew last night. And now I catch them on PATV?

    Awesome.

    Comment by Frozen_flame — May 13, 2011 @ 4:14 am

  31. So, when is this going to be added to the LRR video RSS? Easier to remind me that way, then me going to Penny-Arcade and going, “Oh, right! New Checkpoint today.”

    Comment by MowDownJoe — May 13, 2011 @ 5:30 pm

  32. Get on Bradley Rains to either release the theme song for CheckPoint on his website or get his permission to allow you to release it on your website. I know it’s a rather simple ditty, but I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT! I want to play it over and over again for hours on end like NyanCat!
