It has been mentioned by Graham on the forums, but for those of you who enjoy our site but choose to skip the forums we have a pretty cool new series that has just started over at The Escapist Magazine website.
Its called Unskippable. Think MST3K, but with Paul and Graham (and occasionally someone else) no silhouettes, and done to the beginning cut-scenes from the video games.
You can catch this great new series HERE!!!
This weeks first installment is from Eternal Sonata and make sure to check back every Monday for a new and HI-larious episode.
(Out of curiosity does any say first with a genuine sense of achievement anymore? Or ever?)
Anyways, congratulations! Maybe one week you’ll do a game I’ve played. Are you going to have itfront page and the video section as a video but just a link to The Escapist, or just as a oldschool Desert Bus/Iron Stomach Challenge/Korea style button? I’m pretty sure most of your don’t read either the blog or the forums.

Hmm, to tell the truth I wasn’t very impressed with the first episode. Upon seeing the trailer on the end of the latest ZP video and going ‘Huh? That sounds like Paul from LRR!’ I went and watched it. Big disappointment I’m afraid. The audio quality could have have been better, but I think my main problem with it was that none of the jokes really tied into one another. The whole thing seemed to be aspiring towards ZP’s ‘Intro-Sequence Theatre’ (that was tacked onto the end of the Witcher review), but fell far short. Here’s hoping that subsequent episodes will cause me to change my mind.

I really and truly couldn’t have asked for something better. I think I was the only person who voted LRR3K back in that poll of what kind of videos we want to see more of. Riff’d game cutscenes? Pure genius! I kind of miss the shadows, but I guess that would get in the way of the subtitles. Also, very cool that you guys are on The Escapist. Paul’s valium line totally made me lose it, as well as “hmm… short game”.
Related: if you get a chance to watch any of Rifftacks’ Shorts, I highly recommend Drugs Are Like That, One Got Fat, and Buying Food.

Woo!
That was great! So funny too. Reminds me of that Star Ocean stuff you guys did ^^’
I can’t wait for more.
Much appreciation from distant Netherlands!

While I love the series, I honestly feel that starting off with Eternal Sonata was a bad move. It’s just TOO horrible a cutscene, that even riffed, it still sucks. I think your pilot was much higher quality, because it wasn’t based on such a horribly paced, awful cutscene. There are simply more jokes to be had when there’s actually stuff going on to make fun of.

I thought you sounded familiar Paul… Was watching Zero Punctuation and then at the end a small clip of Unskippable played. Sounded like Paul but I wasnt sure. 😀

This week, look forward to Dead Rising.

I can’t promise I’ll look forward to it, but I’ll try.
There will probably be sobbing, and in all likelyhood, head explody.

You should link to the pilot as well, otherwise I think a lot of people will miss it, and I really loved the Lost Planet one.
I was introducing a few of my friends to LRR, and while they liked the regular videos they really loved Unskippable (both episodes). Looks like you have another good way to get people hooked. Hope this brings in lots of new viewers.
Oh, and I’m enjoying these despite not actually being familiar with either game. I preferred Lost Planet, but my gamer friends seemed to like the other one better. I enjoyed them both regardless. Kudos for committing to two weekly videos, and congrats on getting paid for the series.

I’m just saying.

Holy christ, here I was thinking it sounded an awful lot like Paul, and it actually was! I’m not familiar with Eternal Sonata, so it isn’t as funny for me, but I do look forward to the rest.

Watch the Unskippable Pilot Here
Personally, I liked the pilot better. There was too much time between some of the jokes in the eternal sonata episode. Overall it is a good series (will admit that Doomsday Arcade is looking better right now), and I hope it only gets better over time.
