ENN Going Bi-Weekly
November 17th, 2010

Just a quick update to let you all know that ENN will be going bi-weekly for the foreseeable future. The plan at this point is to skip this week [today] and have the the first bi-weekly episode up next week. We and the Escapist both love ENN, and we’re hoping the longer timeframe will give Graham, Paul, Kathleen and myself the opportunity to do even better things with the series going forward.
Sorry for the short notice on this one. Be sure to tune in this time next week :).

  1. Yes, I woke up this morning, fired up my computer, and received no ENN-related mirth. I hope bi-weekly works out for you.

  2. One question.. Is this going to be from now? Or is it for a set period of time?

  3. The post says “for the foseeable future” (spelling error). But I would think they are hoping to further improve the quality of the show by doing it a little less often. Just a guess, but the shows might get a little longer too, since they will have more possible stories to cover. Assuredly, this will let them think about their other shows more as well. I’m all for quality over quantity, so if this helps to make for even better stuff than LRR already does, then excellent!

  5. You probably have your reasons, which are probably good reasons. I don’t agree with them and want as much ENN as possible, but I can appreciate what you guys do, so I will have to learn to wait…

  6. Biweekly or bimonthly? (Not to be a jerk, I write for a bimonthly paper so I understand.)

  7. I usually don’t write comments on this site despite watching ENN/LRR regularly. But just saying that I do notice *subtle* cuts for October/this month’s ENN video length as well as sometimes ‘hit-and-miss’ humor in some of the newer releases, compared to most earlier episodes. “Quality over quantity” should definitely work, I don’t mind the shift bi-weekly releases.

  9. Ah weaksauce, now your only producing about 3 times the amount of content that most people do. Way to not work yourself to death guys.

Yeah in case you didn’t pick it up, that was sarcasm, you guys do great stuff and my only compliant is that it would have been nice to have been told sooner so that I didn’t have to refresh the Escapist page 4 or 5 times before checking twitter and finding out.

  10. If you’re making half as many and we have to wait twice as long, then mathematically they need to be at least 4x as good.

  11. @POILA ENN is a very difficult nut to crack with regard to content because everyone seems to want something different from it. Some folks like it snarky, others like it dry; some folks like longer feature stories, some find they drag.

We’ve actually made conscious changes to the way we’ve done the show several times over its run in an attempt to bring it in line with the needs of its audience: unfortunately this is tough because for every change we make, we upset folks who liked it the old way. We know the numbers, and so to some extent we know what has worked and what hasn’t, but what makes a better show is always up for debate.

I guess what I’m saying is, while this will certainly give us more time to work on things, stylistic changes like story length and tone are different matters entirely, which we will continue to experiment with, as creative space allows.

  12. For the most part, I think ENN has been getting better with all the significant changes. Just watch the first few episodes and watch the latest ones: there are clear differences in approach. There are also clear differences in hilarity.

Personally, I think its way more hilarious than it is now. The jokes flow better in general. So if you guys say this will make a better product, then I’m sure it will.

    Can’t wait for Desert Bus!!

  13. Given how much work you do, I think for the sake of your sanity, this is a good idea.

Would suck if you got consumed by the madness.

  14. Whatever helps you keep up the quality on the massive amount of content you produce!
Bi-weekly just makes ENN that much more special. So yeah, looking forward to it.

  15. Here’s to hoping it was a mutual decision and will be a mutually beneficial change. The newest Escapist Video contest winners will need a slot and I’m hoping the decision wasn’t made for the ENN crew that they would be going bi-weekly. Sometimes work-life balance needs to swing towards life and I hope some of you find a good way to use those few extra hours each week.

  16. The way I see it, you guys have been working really hard for 7 years now, releasing multiple amazing videos each week. If you need to move to a fornightly episodic system, then that’s cool with me. I’ll still be a devoted fan, and watch them al.

The way I see it, this could improve the (already high) standard of videos you guys pump out every week. So, I say: “More power to ya”

Or should that be “More power gloves to ya” ?

What? Someone had to say it.

I’ll go hide in the corner now, away from the shame of my last pun type wordplay thing… joke…. silliness… doobry

  17. Bi-weekly is an ambiguous term, yay for ENN twice a week! /sarcasm
