500 VIDEOS!
May 20th, 2013

Posted by Kathleen

Back in 2003, I met a young man at a journalism conference. He said he was starting to make videos to put on the internet, a concept that was alien to me at the time, since YouTube hadn’t been invented. I asked to see one. He showed me, on a laptop in a hotel room, a grainy, black and white video of him and his friends walking down the street with Pumpkins on their heads. I was transfixed.

500 videos later, we are here!

That’s right, we’ve made 500 LoadingReadyRun videos, uploaded every single week, without fail, for almost 10 years.

What’s your favourite LoadingReadyRun video? Let us know in the comments!

  1. CommodoreHustle 1: Laundry is quite possibly my favorite ever. The scene changes, the callbacks (pogonophobia, waffles), the Jer search montage, it all just worked so well.

  2. It’s hard to pick a favourite. You guys have made so many great videos. I’ve narrowed it down to 3. First is “Arms Race” which spurred our own Nerf cold war in our household and also features the brilliant Vanilla Ice reference. Second is “Who You Gonna Call” which I actually got to reference myself just this week which let me show the skit to a friend. Third was the “Scientists Rebuttal to ICP” which I have also shown to others to great effect.

Thank you guys for 500 videos, all your hard work, and years of laughter. Here’s to many more!

  3. I’ve been watching since around “How To Talk Like A Pirate” and have so much love for LRR but the phrase that has made it into our everyday conversations still is: “Man loving lentil muffins.” A phrase that will never die. 🙂

  4. I started poking at the archives trying to decide, and just rereading all those titles started me chuckling. You guys are the best.

  7. Magicland.

Anything with Gibb and anything that is a parody of Children’s TV.

  8. Hot Water at PAX, not only is it really funny, it was the video that introduced me to LRR in the first place. Honorable mention to SPRING, though for being really funny as well. Regardless here is to ten more years of wonderful content, thanks to everyone in LRR past and present for consistently putting out great work!

  9. My favorite is easily the first I saw “Halo: The Future of Gaming”. I laughed so hard and haven’t stopping since…. it makes meetings kinda awkward. THANK YOU!

  10. Congratulations LRR, Happy Mirthday!

My favourite video is often the one I just watched, but the one I’ve watched the most is Suspiciously Good Movers. Bless the good ship LRR and all who sail upon her, and thanks for all the great moments you’ve brought to us x

  11. Three PS3s.
You may now have 500 episodes but paul still has three PS3s.
That and your rendition of “Who’s on First”.

    Comment by Shinsei-J — May 20, 2013 @ 7:52 pm

  12. Paper Boy is sublime, absolutely wonderful.

    Comment by Zach — May 20, 2013 @ 8:02 pm

  13. It is hard to believe that I have been watching your videos without fail every single week for about 7 years now. It is hard to pick a favorite out of the bunch, though Omni Lingual and The Lrr Cd rom game come to mind. Congratulations for hitting this milestone and I look forward to the next 500 episodes and beyond.

  14. “Writer’s Room” may not be my absolute favorite, but it’s definitely in my top five.

    Comment by LeeshaJoy — May 20, 2013 @ 9:15 pm

  15. Some of my favorites:

    30 Minutes or Less
    Crime and Punishment
    Halo: The Future of Gaming
    Mercenary Solutions
    Pocket Planes
    Ransom
    Somebody Has to Change
Superman and the Concentrated Light Ray
    The Super Mystery Can Challenge

And of course, all of Celestial Sea.

  16. I think I can absolutely say CH 4 – “Fixer” is an all-time favorite, just for my sheer favorite ball kick in the entirety of the internet.

    Bonus point for Surprise Wheaton

    Comment by Raymonong — May 20, 2013 @ 9:59 pm

  17. Conan’s Witnesses has long been a favorite of mine.

I can’t remember the specific video, but I also loved the one where they used the stinger to reference some guy’s (misguided, incorrect) comment that Matt was a bad actor. It’s stuff like that which keeps me coming back.

The episode where Paul installs linux on everything was wonderful.

All of Commodore Hustle is great.

Yeah, I’m a big fan. You guys keep doing great work. I’ll keep referring friends. Even if they ask me to stop.

  18. Best has to be a close tie between Ransom and SPRING!! Congrats on the 500th update!

    Comment by RedNightmare — May 21, 2013 @ 12:42 am

  19. Well, I believe my first actual LRR video was You’re Kidding.. It may have been something before that.. Maybe Somebody Has to Change.. But You’re Kidding was the one I’d watched and thought “…Well this is something I think I love.” and not once have I ever “hated” a LRR sketch video.

Which just made me realise something.. In You’re Kidding, Graham keeps telling people “All. Three! Really.” …Watch Jonny One. “All. Three. Ladies.”

GUYS, THE LOADINGREADYRUN UNIVERSE IS CONNECTED. YOU GUYS.

Anyway, while I *adore* the Graham & Paul videos and pretty much every single video Kathleen has written.. SPRING! is the one I’ve had the most tears of laughter watching multiple times. That, and commodoreHustle: Season 1.

    Comment by Matt — May 21, 2013 @ 3:31 am

  20. My favourite has to be Echo, with Graham and Andy arguing with their echoes at the top of a hill, and their echoes arguing back.

    “Haha, I bet she did.”
    “Your wife’s a bitch.”

    Comment by Jason — May 21, 2013 @ 4:01 am

  21. I just wanted to say congratulations on reaching 500 videos. I’ve been a fan ever since I stumbled across “Digital Love” and realized that I was somehow in the target audience for a group of comedians (I was still on dial-up at that point and am currently trying to repress memories of waiting for videos to download). Thanks for all the laughs that you’ve provided over the years and thanks for the antics of Desert Bus. It really does make me happy to see you all doing so well (ie, branching out, starting new shows and partnerships etc.). I look forward to seeing another 500!

PS: If I had to pick a favourite: “Brain Transplants Made Easy”.

    Comment by Gildae — May 21, 2013 @ 4:42 am

  22. Pocket Planes, Men, Story Guy… SO MANY. Congrats on 500 videos, LRR. And here’s to 500 more!

    Comment by Pari — May 21, 2013 @ 1:26 pm

  23. A few of my favourites have been Failure, Omni-lingual, Gellin’, the Phailhaus vids, Tucson or Bust, and Superintendent’s Sorrow (even though it’s terribly dated). Oh, and that one where Paul invents a time machine and uses it to screw himself over (not in that way).

    Comment by Ben — May 21, 2013 @ 2:16 pm

  24. My favorurite video is Easy Bake Spore. Just because it has SIENCE in it.

P.S. Keep up the good work.

    Comment by Michael — May 21, 2013 @ 3:04 pm

  25. Sadly some of my favorites, I cannot watch anymore. They are Iron Stomach Challenges: Banana Onion Juice, Dollar Menu Shake and Jones Soda.

    Comment by Matt B — May 21, 2013 @ 7:16 pm

  26. A few years ago, I got a new roommate. One day, I was trying to draw, but he kept interrupting me by laughing really hard. Finally, I dropped my stylus and asked what the hell was so god damned funny. It was then that I found the magic and wonder that is LRR, starting with Phailhaus number 25. Since then, I have spent as much time on LRR as I do on any other site, watching and rewatching these amazing videos.

The video I use to introduce my friends to LRR is Echo. I can watch that video again and again and know the entire script by heart, but I can never get tired of it.

  27. I’ve been a fan for years. I remember when the first episode of CommodoreHustle went up. And it was good!

I think my favorite episode, though, is a more recent one. I really love A Formal Complaint.

    Comment by GG Crono — May 21, 2013 @ 9:49 pm

  28. Quantum Documentary was my introduction to LRR, and I have to say, I think it’s still one of my favourites. Even just the notion of it makes me laugh (and I secretly hope that someday someone will do a kickstarter to fund a documentary about the process of making a documentary for a kickstarter about that selfsame etc.).

In terms of more recent things… Conan’s Witnesses? Eyewitness Accounts? Omni-Lingual? Wireless? I don’t know. I guess I should watch through the archive entirely again to cement a decision.

  29. I think “Rejected Mac Ads” was my first LRR vid. Been following you guys ever since, although these days I mostly watch the ‘main’ channel and Checkpoint. Never been a fan of Unskippable or Feed Dump (sorry). Phailhäus was awesome, though.

Anyway, too many good ones to remember, but “Three PS3s” still cracks me up, as does “The Joystique”. Both are permanently stored on my iPhone.

Oh, and have Morgan do another round of Man Cooking.

  30. The Writers Room, for sure.

    Comment by Ado — May 22, 2013 @ 10:39 am

  31. Just a few that haven’t been mentioned yet:
    Poker Before Dusk
    Eyewitness Accounts
    Dinosaur

  32. Congratualtions on 500.

Story Guy has a special place in my heart.

    Comment by Mums — May 22, 2013 @ 4:47 pm

  33. Congratulations 🙂

My favourite episode has to be The Writers Room.
Closely followed by OmniLingual, Killer Instinct and Son of a Bitch (in no particular order). OMG! Bears! is probably my favourite LRR lore episode.
Ranking cH would require me to rewatch first.

Thank you LLR! Keep up the good work.

    Comment by Rosenfeldt — May 22, 2013 @ 5:34 pm

  34. So many…But I’ve decided that my favorite is Poker Before Dusk because I can quote it from beginning to end.

    Comment by Edward — May 22, 2013 @ 6:32 pm

  35. “Digital Love” and “At Least You’re Not Dead” immediately spring to mind, as do the Rapidfire series. Too many to name… But it all started with my boyfriend showing me “Man Cooking: the Meatshroom” one day, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. So much so I even made the Meatshroom.

    Comment by Diana — May 22, 2013 @ 8:52 pm

  36. The all Gibb episode. Y’know, the one that was just six hours of Gibb talking. That was my favorite episode by far.

    Comment by Name — May 22, 2013 @ 11:22 pm

  37. In the past I would have said Vest.

However Jonny Four wins now. Just for the delivery on the last line.

    Comment by Jamie G — May 23, 2013 @ 1:12 pm

  38. I have no clue how I could pick just one! But if I had to, it would probably be Ransom.

    Comment by Hugums — May 23, 2013 @ 8:12 pm

  39. Actually, I think I have to take that back, or at least say that it’s tied with “Eye Witness” hardest I had laughed in a long time when I first saw that video.

    Comment by Hugums — May 23, 2013 @ 8:15 pm

  40. Bump in the night.
It NEVER stops being both funny and interesting to me

    Comment by Mowinckel — May 24, 2013 @ 11:52 pm

  41. Echo.
It is hands down my favorite video. It also works wonders as an ice breaker (long story).

    Comment by spineye — May 26, 2013 @ 2:30 am

  42. Crime and Punishment is on of the first videos that comes to mind. But it really hard to pick just one video. I also strongly remember –
    • Pile of Zunes
    • Jonny Four
    • SPRING!
    • All of the Rapidfire episode
    • Save Our Games

    Comment by Niels — May 26, 2013 @ 4:26 am

  43. I pick “Snake Oil.”

That video was hilarious on so many levels. I showed that to my marketing professor and she got a huge kick out of it.

Congrats on episode 500 and everything you guys have accomplished. Between the ever expanding list of shows and the incredible charity you guys go out of your way to do, you can all be proud of what you have pulled off. Oh, and a big thanks for helping me get through those all-nighters!

    Comment by Henning — May 26, 2013 @ 5:40 pm

  44. I can not remember what the first video I ever saw was or pick a person favorite, but I can say I remember the first time I saw a LRR video. It was at one of the last years KeiKon ran, in the MacLaurin building. I remember you having the crowd do the looking pose. Over the next few weeks after that I remember watching the entire archive (at the time which wasn’t as daunting a task as it would be now) and loving so much of it. Hope to see you guys keep doing amazingly fun stuff for many more videos.

    Comment by VanSlick — May 27, 2013 @ 9:19 pm

  45. Two Words: Eyewitness Accounts

Lots of LRR crew past and present in it, lots of good humour without getting ridiculous, and of course it has James as a cop.

    Comment by Gjones — May 28, 2013 @ 12:31 am

  46. At last, someone comes up with the “right” answer!
