15 Seconds of Fame: Paul’s Prudent Personals
September 19th, 2008

Posted by Jeremy

On last week;s LRR-cast, we were asked if we’d be willing to go on a blind date with an LRR fan. Most of us expressed trepidation . . . except Paul, who seemed like he might be game . . . at some point . . . well in my mind.

This week’s question:

Compose an auditory personal ad that might convince Paul to go on a blind date with you – Describe your ideal evening, and explain what would make it extra special. Make it sexy, but tasteful. Do it in under 15 seconds before noon on Sept 20, lest you face rejection.

Go get’m tigers 🙂

Just a quick update and apology for not making my usual blog updates of late. For a while I was unemployed, which necessitated a huge amount of focus on finding a job. Now I have a temporary position at Elections Canada, which necessitates a full work week and a huge amount of focus on finding a job (for when this one is done). Look for this week’s 15-seconds of fame tonight, and a community update tomorrow.

We now return to your regularly scheduled bloginess . . .

PAX Day Afterwards
September 1st, 2008

Well we’re back from the Penny Arcade Expo and I figured that since I started off the convention with a blog post, I might as well end it off with one, as well.

It was awesome. Ridiculously awesome. I had a great time, and I know everyone else in the group did as well. There were some great games to see, some very entertaining panels, some good music (I’ll let others speak to the music–I only saw two or three songs), and a lot of fun just hanging out.

Some of the excitement of the trip can be experience through the Loading Time series we shot during the day before PAX and the three days the convention ran. You can see the first three days on the site already (Day 0 here. Day 1 here, and Day 2 here).

We also executed the LRR PAX Get-together, which we decided, during the event, to dub LRRCon 2008. A lot of people showed up (we foolishly forgot to get a headcount) and had an awesome time hanging out, taking pictures, getting autographs, and being uber nerds together. There were multiple cameras and camera-persons documenting it. You can see Sable’s photo coverage here, and you can check out some video footage in the PAX Day 2 Loading Time.

For anyone else who was at PAX and/or at LRRCon ’08, feel free to share some impressions on the forums and let everyone know how jealous they should be that you got to see Fallout 3 live and hang out with the LRR Crew.

Hope to see you all next year!

PAX Day Zero

Hey everyone!

This is Tim, reporting from the hotel room I’m sharing with Graham, Paul, Morgan, Matt, and tank_girl. Everyone else is asleep, but my internal clock doesn’t let me sleep past 7:30 these days, and I’ve never been very good at getting back to sleep once I’m awake.

The hotel was having issues with its internet last night, so I figured I’d fire up my laptop and see if they had resolved the problem yet. Seems like they have, so here’s an update on what we’re up to and what you can expect from LRR during PAX.

Yesterday (Thursday) we cruised on over to Seattle via the Clipper ferry. We arrived around 2:30, took a taxi to the hotel, and loaded our stuff into our rooms before heading out to enjoy the city. To get an idea of what we did while we were there, you’ll have to watch the special-edition version of Loading Time: PAX Day Zero, which will hopefully be up and viewable by later this morning or this afternoon (pending the Revver process).

(Ok, Paul’s awake now and set me up with access to the blog so I could post this.)

The other important piece of news you should pay attention to is this forum post by Graham:

OKAY!
After running into a local fan we could ask, we’re going to aim for The Hurricane Cafe located at 7th and Bell.

Apparently the hours, food, pricing and atmosphere fit our needs nicely.
And if it sucks there’s another (slightly more expensive) option nearby, where this local LRR fan works.

How’s that sound to everyone?

Hopefully everyone can make it there! We’ll see you then, and we’ll have more news from PAX as it happens, internet-willing.

15 Seconds of Fame: August 23, 2008

Oscar Wilde once said that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

If you want to be talked about on the LoadingReadyRun podcast, record an answer to the following question and email it to James by 23:59 on Friday August 29 (subject: 15 SECONDS OF FAME). We will pick the best one, play it on the podcast, and comment on it, potentially giving you 15 seconds of fame.

This week’s question:
Describe a third planet-sized transformer, including a name physical description, affiliation, weapons, etc., and explain how he or she would pwn Optimus Prime. Descriptions over 15 seconds will be disqualified.

Transform and roll out!
