Road Trip : The Final Days August 9th, 2007
Oh man you guys. You have no idea. I am currently coming to you from just north of Klamath, CA. We are slowly making our way back to Victoria. Our original goal was to get up super early this morning and push the 12 hour drive to the ferry and get on the last ferry of the day. Well as you may have already guessed that plan was flawed. In fact I think it would be safe to say that communism in America would have had a better chance to work than this plan. But I am getting ahead of myself, I am sure at least one of you is wondering how we got here. Well let me regale you of our story of the last 3 days.
Wednesday
Wednesday was our second day in LA and boy did we ever make good use of it. Over the last couple of months we have been in contact with a guy over at HBO Labs that is a big fan of our stuff and he has been hounding us to make some shorter content for him so he can pass it on to his bosses and tell them how awesome we are. So with them based out of LA he thought it would be kind of cool if we all came over for the morning to shoot some stuff for their website. So we hopped in the bus (minus Ben, he was sick) and proceeded to drive pretty much from one side of LA to the other. No offense to anyone out there reading this from the LA region, but when it comes to commuting, your city kind of sucks. Other wise it’s a really cool place that I fully intend on going back to. So after we got the HBO thing done, some of the guys were hurting to hit up Disneyland. So we headed back to the hotel to drop off the bus, and some of the guys (Matt, Paul, Graham and Alex) headed off to Disneyland. While the rest of us were pretty dead set on going to Medieval Times. And boy am I ever glad we did. Our Knight lost, but god damn was it ever awesome. If you ever have the chance to go, do it. From my understanding the guys had an awesome time at Disneyland, they hit every ride they wanted to and some twice.
Thursday
Thursday was a pretty uneventful day. Our only goal for the day was to make it to San Fran in one piece. The one catch was, we were going to get there by going along the coastal highway. A little slower yes, but much more scenic. Before we jetted out of town we headed down to Jay and Silent Bobs Secret Stash (Kevin Smiths comic book shop) and had some fun there. Right around the corner was a pizza place and a frozen yogurt place that we hit up. The Frozen yogurt was amazing and the pizza was HUGE!
We made it about 1 hour out of town and we finally picked up our first hitchhiker. Our plan was to pick up a super hot girl but when we finally figured out that that wasn’t going to happen we settled for the next best thing. A guy named Gary. Old enough to be our dad but he was a nice guy. So we gave him a ride about 20 miles north and then dropped him off in his hometown.
After that it was just a very long drive to SF. We finally made it in around 2am, drove up some really big ass hills and found a motel to stay at.
Friday
Friday was the day for our Lucas Films tour (thank you Ken) So we all pilled back in the bus after a mediocre night sleep and drove over to Lucas. The tour was pretty freaking cool. There really isn’t much to say (mainly cause we can’t talk about it :P) we wandered around the building with our honorary guide who showed us all this cool stuff that fills every hallway of the building. Well worth the stop in SF.
After the tour our goal was to go as far was Eureka, CA and chill there for the night. And holy Christ what a night it was. I however am going to leave Morgan or Adam to fill you in on it. Hold tight, it’s a good story.
Saturday
As stated at the beginning of this post, it was our goal to catch the last ferry back to Victoria on Saturday night. That was not to happen. So instead we did the next best thing. We took our time and drove all the way from Eureka, CA to Port Angeles, OR so we could catch the first ferry over on Sunday morning. And that is just what we did. Notes of interest for the day included our stop in a small Oregon town to get our other tire changed and grab some lunch.
After that it was just the long drive with stopping only for gas. We finally got into the ferry terminal around 2am an camped there for a couple hours until it was time to get in line for the ferry boat. We just barely made it on for the 8:30, so we were all sighing a sign of relief when we got on the boat. The ride over was boring, which was to be expected. At this point we were all tired, smelled bad and wanted nothing more than to be in our own houses again. But Canada Customs would have none of that. They spent 1 hour searching our vehicle when we got to the other side. BORING! Graham Air soft gun was taken away but we are thinking he should be able to get it back. And if not, I don’t think he’s worried to much, it only cost him 30 bucks.
And with that the blog comes to a close (thank god)
If you want more road trip goodness, go on your own and leave me alone 😛

Road Trip Day 7, 8 & 9 : San Diego Day: 4, Las Vegas and LA Day: 1 August 2nd, 2007
Hello one and all. And welcome to what I think may end up being one of the biggest blog posts I have ever seen. Or for that matter, ever wanted to write. But alas it must be done, not for riches, nor for honor. Mainly just to share with you what has been the craziest 3 days of this road trip (and possibly our lives :P)
Let us begin with our final day in San Diego.
SUNDAY
With Saturday coming to a close and us feeling like we had accomplished what we had set out to do. We decided to skip the last day of the con (except Paul, Graham, Kathleen and Alex, who spent a half day there) not at the con at all. Instead we headed to the world famous San Diego Zoo. Good god is that place ever freaking big. We were under the impression it was an all day thing, and while I could see it turning into that, the 5 hours + we spent there was plenty for us. Defiantly worth the price of admission. There are animals there that you would rarely have the chance to see other wise. I took a whole bunch of pictures with I will try and get up in the next couple days.
After the zoo we headed back to the hotel. Me, Adam, Ben and Bill decided to hit up the bar downstairs and we just chatted for a couple hours and watch a baseball game. Ben ended up talking with some girl at the bar, so we ended up leaving him there while the group of us went to have dinner in the dinning room. Great fun was had by all, and just as we were finishing up Ben decided to join us.
After dinner it was pretty much get back to our rooms to try and get things organized, as we had to check out the next morning and start our adventure to Vegas.
MONDAY
This was one hell of a day.
Our plan was leave San Diego around 9ish and be in Vegas for around 4ish. Now this a road trip with 9 guys and a fucking short bus so that plan was pretty much shot from the very beginning.
In all fact we weren’t doing to bad until we hit… some town an 1 hour and a half outside of Las Vegas. At which we discovered that one of our front tires (the right one) was showing signs of balding. The sign you ask? The sign a freaking metal. I would say that was a pretty good sign. So we had to buy and have a new tire installed before we could go any further. Once that was done however nothing could stop in our way. And before we knew it we were driving down the Las Vegas strip with a freaking mini bus. There is a good story to be had there but I will leave it for a later date.
We had just booked the hotel we were staying in the night before so we knew we had a place to stay which was good. So we headed straight for the Monte Carlo. Yup, we splurged and got a place right on the strip. A little ways down from the “center” of the strip, but on it none the less.
At this point it was time to split up. Graham, Paul, Matt and Alex made there way to the star trek experience, to see all things star trek. I will let one of them write something up later so you can know how that treated them.
The rest of us had one plan and one plan only. Drink and Gamble. And boy did we do both. Drinking more so. Once we were all showered and changed we started to head down the strip to get some food. After about 20 minutes of walking we decided to walk into bally’s and find their all you can eat buffet. Once we found it we stuffed our faces and hit the floor. Lost some money had a few drinks and continued on our merry way. A couple casinos down we stumbled across this bar that I wanted to show the guys cause I knew they had jag on tap. So we ended up paying the cover and went in for a couple drinks. It was less than stellar at that point so we decided to keep walking and see what we could see with the little time we had, and if the opportunity struck we would head back. Our main reasoning for that was when we went in they told us if we came back later that night they would make sure we got a VIP booth if we bought a bottle of whatever was on the menu. We figured “that’s cool” and went on our way. This is when the night starts to get kinda blurred together. I can’t tell you what other Casinos we went into but we kept gambling and drinking as the night went on and once matt caught up with us, we figured a little more gambling and then we should head back to that club and buy a bottle. So that’s exactly what we did.
Not much really happened in the club. But when things did happen, boy did they happen.
First and foremost the bottle we got was “Canadian club whiskey” and with that and the booth we alone spent 300.00 dollars on that! Secondly the waitress that basically looked after us until close to 4am was more accurately wearing a large belt, not a short skirt! And then Morgan and Adam basically pushed Matt out onto the dance floor until he finally found a girl that he danced with and shared a drink with until we left. It was a pricey night to say the least but completely worth it.
To add to an already random night there were between the 6 of us, 4 different walks back to the hotel. Bill had to bounce early due to a killer migraine, which was super lame. Me and Ben powered back to the hotel cause I was in my, “OMG YOU AND MATT HAVE TO DRIVE US TO LA IN THE MORNING AND ITS 5am”, state. Morgan was with me and Ben for a bit, but ended up talking to some random person on the side of the street and apparently turning there life around. And Matt and Adam had an adventure as well. The likes of which will never been known, unless of course one of them wants to share it with you.
TUESDAY
As you can imagine Tuesday morning came a bit to quick for some. Ben and Matt of course were hurting but they stepped up and got there shit in gear and were up and about with enough time for us to hit the roulette table once more before we left. My plan: 10 bucks on red and if it pays out then let 10 ride on red again and stick the winning 10 on black 13 to the advise of Bill. Everyone else thought this was a keen idea so with the exception of Morgan (No Cash) and Alex (he went for black) everyone else threw 10 dollars down on red. So in the end at least everyone, minus Alex, left Vegas a winner.
So after a whirlwind night in Vegas we had to make our way back to LA, as Me, Ben and Adam has concert to get to. Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Less that Jake and Against All Authority. It was a bloody amazing show and I am so happy that we decided to go. Reel Big Fish is one of my all time favorite bands and Adam has been stoke to see Manifesto for weeks. All in all a fairly calm day other wise.

Wednesday was a good day as well. However I am going to do the write up for that tomorrow on the bus as we make our way back up the coast. We are stopping in San Francisco tomorrow night. Should be a good time.
